Mr Consistency
Red Bull Air Racing’s ‘Mr Consistency’, Matt Hall stood upon the top step of the podium twice in 2015, and was tantalisingly close to winning the much-coveted championship
It has been no ordinary year for Matt Hall, the former RAAF fighter pilot who clinched his first Red Bull Air Race (RBAR) victories and finished a tantalisingly close second overall for the season. However, behind the trophies and podiums, it was a year of dedicated planning and execution that the public rarely witnesses.
A season to remember
Before the RBAR circuit even began, Matt Hall and his team had been busily trialling winglets on his MXS-R race aircraft. There were efficiencies in certain realms of flight and potential penalties in others. The handling of the aircraft was also different with the new aerodynamic devices fitted and Matt had to adapt as the first race loomed ahead.
