Positioning for the future
Cobham continues to look for new FIFO opportunities, but the market is “very tight” and expected to remain challenging in the year ahead.
The downturn in Australia’s mineral resources sector is providing challenges for Cobham Aviation Services – along with other charter operators – yet the Adelaidebased group is continuing to win new contracts and extensions to existing ones.
As it prepares to receive the first of four modified Challenger 604 jets for its $640 million, 12-year search and rescue contract for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, and continues its busy Coastwatch operations with its fleet of Dash 8s, its regional services for Qantas and its fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) services for mining and petroleum companies are making some headway.
