The RAAF Air Task Group’s contribution to anti-ISIL operations in Iraq
After deploying to the Middle East in late September to support coalition operations against the terror threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the RAAF Air Task Group (ATG) has settled into an operational battle rhythm at its Al Minhad Air Base (AMAB) hub in the UAE.
The ATG comprises eight F/A‑18F Super Hornets from RAAF Amberley’s 82WG (of which six are available for operations), a KC- 30A MRTT air-to-air refuelling aircraft from Amberley’s 33SQN, and an E-7A Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft from 2SQN based at RAAF Williamtown.
