A recent spate of air rage incidents has drawn attention to the use of devices designed to prevent passengers reclining their seats in flight.

These clamp-like attachments are fitted to the back of a seat by the passenger sitting in the row behind with the intent of maintaining their personal space. Some manufacturers even include a ‘greeting card’ to hand out to the passenger affected to let them know the device is fitted to their seat and they won’t be reclining any time soon. It is not surprising that this has led to friction in the airways and even violence and arrests. Let the games begin.
