American Airlines has expanded its Japanese network through a series of new codeshares with Jetstar Japan.
The Dallas-based carrier will place its AA code on Jetstar Japan’s services from Tokyo Narita to Fukuoka, Matsuyama, Okinawa, Osaka and Sapporo from October 26, American said in a statement on Wednesday.

American has a joint business agreement with two of Jetstar Japan’s owners in Qantas and Japan Airlines (JAL). Mitsubishi Corporation and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation are also shareholders in the low-cost carrier.
Jetstar Japan has a fleet of 18 Airbus A320 aircraft and flies to 10 domestic destinations within Japan. It recently reported a loss of 11.1 billion Japanese yen (A$120 million) for the 12 months to June 30 2014.
American already codes on JAL’s flights within Japan, as well as international services from Japan to the US and Asia.

It also codeshares with Qantas and Jetstar on services between Australia and the US, as well as within Australia and New Zealand.
