The trip of a lifetime
That is what British entrepreneur Matthew Munson enjoyed when he travelled in Canada’s last airworthy Lancaster Vera on its flight to the UK on August 8. There the machine has joined with the last airworthy British Lancaster Thumper, operated by Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Munson won the trip to the UK after bidding $79,000 on eBay for a seat in the Canadian Lancaster.
The world’s only airworthy Lancasters were then due to embark on a six-week tour of the UK. Millions were expected to see the two aircraft including surviving members of Bomber Command who crewed Lancasters during WW2.
