Centenary of Military Flight Air Show
RAAF Williams RAAF base Point Cook was the place to be over the weekend of March 1 and 2.
Each day the ADF held an airshow commemorating the Centenary of Military Aviation. The event got off to an early start with the 7. 40am flight of a Bristol Biplane, a Boxkite as it is better know, on Saturday March 1, exactly 100 years to the minute from when the original first military flight was made, by a Boxkite. The 2014 aircraft was flown by Squadron Leader Steve Bekker, an ARDU pilot. The flight was repeated at 9. 45am the next day with a lot more spectators. Both flights consisted of an extended hop from the grass runway, runway 17, into a slight wind.
