Boeing’s Australia & South Pacific president, Ian Thomas, has been appointed as president of Boeing China.
Thomas has led Boeing’s activities in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific from the company’s Sydney offices since 2009, and prior to that had been president of Boeing India. Boeing says a successor for Thomas in Australia will be named in coming weeks.

“Ian Thomas is one of our most experienced leaders in international markets,” Shep Hill, president, Boeing International and senior vice president Business Development and Strategy said in a statement. “He has made a significant impact on our business in Australia and is well suited to lead our activities in China, with a focus on further growing our business in one of the world’s most dynamic markets for commercial aircraft.”
Thomas replaces Marc Allan in the China role, with Allan in turn appointed president of Boeing Capital Corporation, with effect from mid-March.
