Perspectives Ron Bartsch
In the second of our new series, Perspectives, we talk to Ron Bartsch, regulator, pilot and lawyer about a career dedicated to making flying safe.
To some, risk management and safety management systems are a dry, dark art that is still seen as a business impediment. To others, however, it is a pragmatic, life-saving process that underpins the safety values of an organisation. Arguably nowhere is it more vital than in aviation.
Ron Bartsch knows this. He has devoted his career to thinking about the worst possible occurrences of the type that keep headline writers busy, or perhaps worse still, the insidious creep of corporate apathy that undermines the foundations of safety. More importantly, however, rather than just thinking about those risks, it is the mitigation of them that keeps us safe in the skies and on the ground.
