Established operators added four new types, these being Gulfstream 650 ZK‑KFB to ExecuJet New Zealand to replace Gulfstream 550 ZK‑KFB; Falcon 7X VH‑MQK to MK Air of Newcastle to replace Falcon 900EX VH‑MQR; Gulfstream 150 VH‑PFV to ST Aerospace Engineering in Singapore; and CitationJet CJ4 ZK‑PGA to Pacific Jets of Christchurch to replace CitationJet CJ3 ZK‑TBM.

Our listing of new operators and the aircraft they imported has fallen from 12 in 2012 to only two in 2013, these being Asia Pacific Jets of Singapore with Hawker 800 N838JL and Beechjet 400A N868JL and Star Oriental International of Kuala Lumpur with Gulfstream IV VH‑TSL. The inclusion of Asia Pacific Jets and Star Oriental International highlights the growing trend of Australian-registered bizjets being based in South-East Asia – Asia Pacific Jets of Seletar with Hawker 800XP VH‑OVE, Hawker 800 N838JL and Beechjet 400A N868JL; Dulcie of Singapore with Challenger 605 VH‑LVH; ST Aerospace Engineering of Seletar with Gulfstream 550 VH‑PFL, Gulfstream 150 VH‑PFV, Learjet 45 VH‑PFS and Learjet 35A VH‑PFA; and Star Oriental International of Kuala Lumpur with Gulfstream IV VH‑TSL.

Established operators took delivery of three aircraft with Avesco of Mackay adding Premier N7088S to join Citation CJ2 VH‑ZGP; China Southern West Australian Flying College of Jandakot with Phenom 100 VH‑LWZ to join Phenom 100 VH‑FJP; Turbojet Holdings of Tullamarine with Learjet 45 VH‑LJX to join Learjet 35A VH‑JCR, Learjet 35A VH‑LJJ and Learjet 36A VH‑JCX.

Westfield Aviation took deliveryof Gulfstream 550 N818LF to replace previously operated Gulfstream V N36GV.

Mention should again be made of AVWest Aircraft which continues to buy and sell Global Express aircraft. In this period AVWest imported Global Express N185GX and Global Express N433DC, but before the period ended Global Express N185GX and Global Express M‑BTAR found new owners overseas.

Four aircraft were sold overseas and were not replaced, these being Hawker 800XP VH‑VLI of J Nicholas to the US as N800GN; International Publishing Group Beechjet 400A VH‑IPG to Thailand as HS‑EMM; GE Commercial Australia Gulfstream IV VH‑DBT to the US as N1363G; and Shazo Holdings Learjet 60 VH‑SBU to the US.

Finally, Aircraft Group Holdings Citation I VH‑EGK was broken up for spares while Pel‑Air Aviation Westwind I VH‑AJK was ‘withdrawn from service’.

Deliveries Bizjet delivery numbers to our region in the period under review fell to 13 in comparison to imports in the period 2008 to 2012 of 24, 14, 29, 24 and 21.

Four new types appear in our listing, these being Citation CJ4 ZK‑PGA, Falcon 7X VH‑MQK, Gulfstream 650 ZK‑KFB and Gulstream 150 VH‑PFV.

Citation CJ4 ZK‑PGA, which was registered to Pacific Jets of Christchurch on November 8 ’12, was delivered to Auckland on November 12 ’12.

Global Express N185GX was delivered to AVWest in Perth on December 14.

Falcon 7X VH‑MQK which was registered to MKAir7X of Newcastle on January 25 was delivered to Sydney on January 26.

Premier N7088S was imported by Avesco of Mackay with the aircraft delivered to Mackay on February 6.

N7088S is no stranger to Australia having previously been operated by Sydney Jet Charter between April ’07 and February ’09.

Gulfstream IV VH‑TSL, which was registered to Star Oriental International of Kuala Lumpur on February 14, made its first recorded visit to Australia on May 19.

Gulfstream 150 VH‑PFV, which was registered to ST Aerospace Engineering of Seletar on May 10, had earlier been delivered to Seletar on May 2 as N100VP.

Phenom 100 VH‑LWZ was registered to the China Southern West Australian Flying College of Willetton, WA on August 2 and delivered to Perth/Jandakot on August 11.

Gulfstream 550 N818LF was delivered to Westfield Aviation in Sydney on August 26.

Learjet 45 VH‑LJX, which was registered to Turbojet Holdings of Tullamarine, Victoria on August 27, was delivered to Essendon on August 31.

Hawker 800 N838JL of Airmed International arrived at Essendon from Seletar and Port Hedland on August 28 and was still resident as of November 11. It is planned to be registered VH‑VOV.

Global Express N433DC was delivered to AVWest in Perth on September 23.

Gulfstream 650 ZK‑KFB, which was registered to ExecuJet New Zealand of Wellington on October 4, was delivered to Wellington on October 5.

Beechjet 400A N868JL of Asia Pacific Jets arrived at Essendon from Seletar and Port Hedland on October 20 and was still resident as of November 11. The Beechjet, which has been converted to a Nextant Aerospace 400XT, is planned to be registered VH‑OVS.

Departures In the period under review 11 bizjets either departed our region or were scrapped.

Departure numbers for the five year period 2008 through 2012 were eight, five, eight, 10 and 10.

AVWest Global Express M‑BTAR departed Perth for Seletar on December 8 after being replaced by Global Express N185GX (see deliveries). M‑BTAR was later registered to Pacific Global of Douglas, Isle of Man on January 14.

MK Air Falcon 900EX VH‑MQR, which departed Sydney for sale in the US on December 11, was cancelled from the register on January 11. The same day the aircraft was registered N6VF to the VF Corporation of Greensboro, North Carolina.

J Nicholas Hawker 800XP VH‑VLI was cancelled from the register on February 19 on its sale in the United States. The Hawker was registered N800GN to Sapphire Aviation of Houston, Texas on February 28 before departing Essendon on April 12 for Cairns and the United States.

ExecuJet New Zealand Gulfstream 550 ZK‑KFB, which departed Wellington for Los Angeles and Appleton, Wisconsin on February 26, was cancelled from the register on March 5. It was registered to Saab as SE‑RKL on March 8. International Publishing Group Beechjet 400A VH‑IPG departed Bankstown on March 2 on delivery to HS Aviation at Bangkok/Don Muang. VH‑IPG was cancelled from Australian register on March 6 and registered HS‑EMM on March 8.

Aircraft Group Holdings Citation I VH‑EGK, which had been static at Essendon for a number of years, was scrapped in the period under review with work commencing on March 8.

VH‑EGK, which was previously registered VH‑EMM, changed its registration on March 16 ’07 but the marks VH‑EGK were never carried.

GE Commercial Australia of Sydney Gulfstream IV VH‑DBT departed Essendon on March 18 for Apia and sale in the US. VH‑DBT was cancelled from the Australian register on April 30 before being registered N1363G to the Bank of Utah in Salt Lake City on May 2.

Westfield Aviation Gulfstream V N36GV, which departed for sale in the United States in June, was later replaced by Gulfstream 550 N818LF (see deliveries).

Pel‑Air Aviation Westwind I VH‑AJK was cancelled from the register on August 23 as ‘withdrawn from service’.

AVWest Global Express N185GX departed Perth in late August after being replaced by Global Express N433DC (see deliveries). N185GX was later registered to Delaware Global Operations of Opa Locka, Florida on September 18.

Shazo Holdings Learjet 60 VH‑SBU was cancelled from the register on September 23 as ‘exported to USA’. The Learjet had earlier departed its Gold Coast base in February ’12 for the United States where it was hangared while awaiting sale.

Updates Learjet 24D N174RD, which has been resident at Camden, NSW since January ’05, was cancelled from the US register on August 19 ’10 as ‘exported to Australia’. The Learjet was never placed on the Australian register and on September 23 ’13 it returned to the US register as N174RD.

Learjet 45 VH‑SQV while under maintenance in Sydney on November 7 ’12 was noted to be carrying the registration VH‑LJX, but it was never officially registered as such.

Challenger 850 VH‑LEF, which was resident at Essendon, was cancelled from the register on March 1 as ‘exported to Canada’ and on March 19 it was registered C‑GVFT to Flying Colours Corporation of Peterborough, Ontario. It was still resident at Essendon as of October 31.

Global Express VH‑XZH was registered to AVWest of Cottesloe, WA on October 19 ’10, but the aircraft has never been delivered to Australia.

Citation Mustang ZK‑MOT departed Auckland on April 11 ’12 on ferry to Sarasota, Florida where it was stored while awaiting a buyer.

ZK‑MOT, which is still currently registered in New Zealand, remains in Sarasota.

Falcon 2000 F‑GZLX has been operating with Balmoral Air since August 6 while their Falcon 2000EX VH‑WIO has been in Europe with Dassault.

Westwind II VH‑NGA, which was operated by Pel‑Air Aviation, ditched off Norfolk Island on November 18 ’09. VH‑NGA was removed from our 2010 directory, but on August 23 ’13 it was officially removed from the register as ‘withdrawn from service’.

Demo flights

The Australian International Airshow at Avalon, Victoria in February/March was responsible for an above average number of overseas bizjets being demonstrated in the period under review.
