Priority solutions needed for Brisbane and Sydney

New government and opposition transport members must agree to urgently force building Sydney’s second airport and to ensure the construction of Brisbane’s parallel runway is both the optimum design and is delivered on time. Given the long lead times of both projects and the growing congestion at both airports, politicians need to make firm decisions, but leave the experts to put in place the technical solutions.

Warren Truss, the new Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister, has long transport experience and is well aware of the chronic congestionaffecting Brisbane and Sydney. Anthony Albanese, if he becomes Opposition Transport Spokesman, is the former Minister. Surely with both their experience and extensive relevant knowledge they would be able to sort fact from fiction and see through the massive spin and foot-dragging so-called stakeholders generate.
