The flight review reviewed
What the new regulations mean
December 4 sees the introduction of the new Civil Aviation Safety Regulations. Part 61.
While the majority of the changes will not affect the average private pilot there are changes that affect commercial pilots and instructors. For those instructors who conduct flight reviews, Part 61. 1220 (3) will be of interest. In that section it is advised that the assessor will be required to advise CASA of the successful outcome of a flight review by way of a written notice that includes the applicant’s name and ARN, that the holder has successfully completed the flight review, the date of the review, the rating for which the flight review was conducted and the aircraft registration. If the review was conducted in a simulator, the identifying number of the flight simulator is required.
