5,000 missions and counting
For any rescue service, the milestone of 5,000 missions is a significant one. But when one considers that these missions were carried out in the vastly differing terrain and conditions of a territory larger than any other rescue helicopter service in New South Wales, the milestone says a lot about the people, skill and preparedness those missions.
Snowy Hydro SouthCare celebrated this milestone in January. Established in October 1998 as the primary provider of aeromedical and rescue helicopter services in the ACT and South Eastern NSW, SouthCare covers a territory some ……sqkm extending from Orange in central NSW, south to the Victorian border and west to Hay. It supports a resident population of more than 750,000 and in excess of five million visitors annually.
