737-838 VH-XZD Moranbah, which was delivered to Melbourne on April 6 (Traffic/May), entered service on April 10 when it operated QF620 from Melbourne to Brisbane.

747-438 VH-OJJ, which was withdrawn from service on March 6 (Traffic/May), had its Qantas titles and Kangaroo removed before departing Sydney on March 10 on ferry direct to Marana, Arizona as QF6024.

747-438 VH-OJJ Winton was delivered to Qantas in Sydney on February 21 ’91 after operating QF531/20 from Vancouver and Honolulu.
747-438 VH-OJC was scheduled on the final Qantas service into Frankfurt on April 15 after arriving on the QF5/14 from Sydney and Singapore.

747-48E VH-OEB departed Sydney on April 26 as QF6034 for Buenos Aires on the first leg of a Captains Choice Tour to Central and South America.

737-476 VH-TJK was withdrawn from Qantas service on April 9 after operating QF463 from Sydney to Melbourne. VH-TJK then had its Qantas titles and kangaroo removed before departing Melbourne on April 22 as QF6027 for Sydney, Apia, Honolulu and Victorville, California where it was placed in storage.

737-476 VH-TJK Ibis was delivered to Australian Airlines in Melbourne on March 3 ’91 after the aircraft ferried in from Boeing Field via Honolulu and Nadi as TN1396. VH-TJK entered service with Australian Airlines on March 7 when it operated TN535 from Melbourne to Launceston.

A380-842 VH-OQA ferried out of Sydney on April 5 as QF6011 to Manila where the aircraft entered the Lufthansa Technik hangar for cabin reconfiguration work. On completion VH-OQA ferried from Manila to Hong Kong as QF6016 on May 4.

A330-202 VH-EBS, which was previously operated by Jetstar (see below), was planned to enter service with Qantas in mid-May. VH-EBS as QF6025 departed Brisbane on April 28 for Manila where the aircraft was painted in Qantas colours.

Jetstar withdrew A330-202 VH-EBS from service in Sydney on April 14 after the aircraft operated JQ38/13 from Denpasar. VH-EBS was ferried from Sydney to Brisbane as JQ7992 on April 14 where the aircraft was prepared for transfer to the Qantas fleet.

A320-232 VH-VQT was withdrawn from Jetstar service on April 8 after operating JQ750 from Launceston to Melbourne. The following day VH-VQT departed Melbourne from Darwin and Seletar as JQ7990 for end-of-lease maintenance.

A320-232 VH-VQT was delivered to Jetstar in Newcastle on July 4 ’05 and entered service on July 12 when it operated JQ177 from Coolangatta to Sydney.

A320-232 VH-VQK departed Sydney on April 20 as JQ7990 on ferry to Darwin and Seletar for planned maintenance. On completion VH-VQK ferried from Seletar to Changi as JQ7990 on May 3 and returned to service the same day operating JQ64 from Singapore to Darwin.
A320-232 VH-VFN, which was delivered to Melbourne on April 7 (Traffic/May), entered service on April 19 when it operated JQ440 from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. Prior to its entry into service VH-VFN was adorned in a special scheme ‘Celebrating 100 aircraft and over 100 million passengers’.

Jetstar Asia has terminated its lease of A320-232 9V-JSD and on April 7 the all-white A320-232 was test-flown from Seletar as JQ93. 9V-JSD reportedly will follow sistership 9V-JSC to Turkish Airlines where it will be registered TC-JUH.

Jetstar Japan took delivery of A320-232 JA11JJ msn 5598 at Narita on April 29 after the aircraft ferried in from Toulouse via Abu Dhabi and Hanoi.

A320-232 msn 5631 and 5649 are planned for delivery to Jetstar Japan by mid-June.

Network Aviation ferried Fokker 100 VH-NQE into Perth on April 6 from Seletar and Port Hedland and returned the aircraft to service on April 9 from Perth to Degrussa. Fokker 100 VH-NQE had been at Seletar since December 15 ’12 undergoing repairs as a result of damage sustained while landing at Nifty on October 19 ’12.

Airline News

In this issue we report the delivery of an E-170-100LR to AirNorth and a Fokker 70 to Alliance.

Air New Zealand was planning to take delivery of A320-232/S ZK-OXA msn 5629 in mid-June.

Air Niugini ferried Fokker 100 P2-AND into Port Moresby as PX6397 on May 4 from Subang, Denpasar, and Darwin after it completed a period of planned maintenance.

P2-AND initially ferried into Seletar on November 25 ’12 for maintenance before ferrying to Subang as PX6393 on April 15 where it was painted in the new Air Niugini livery.

AirNorth took delivery of E-170-100LR VH-ANT in Darwin on April 26 after the aircraft, which was using the call sign ‘Top End 4041’, arrived from Subang. The ferry flight, which had commenced at Sao Jose dos Campos on April 22, initially took VH-ANT to Recife, Cape Verde, Casablanca and Cairo. VH-ANT is the fourth of type in the AirNorth fleet and entered service on April 26 when it operated ANO114 from Darwin to the McArthur River Mine.

Alliance Airlines took delivery of Fokker 70 HP-1731PST in Brisbane on April 17 after the aircraft completed its ferry flight from Panama City via Nassau, Halifax, Reykjavik, Malmo, Trabzon, Al Ain, Nagpur, Penang and Kupang. The flight was contracted to Southern Cross International with the flight operating as SXI 1318. The Fokker 70, which will be registered VH-JFB was delivered in the colours of its previous operator Air Panama.

Further to our report in (Traffic/May) 737-476 ZK-JTQ has returned to operations in Western Australia and on April 8 it ferried from Brisbane to Perth as AWK737. ZK-JTQ then returned to service the following day as QQ731 from Perth to Karratha.

Fiji Airways was planning to take delivery of their second A330-243 DQ-FJU msn 1416 in late May.

Skippers Aviation second Fokker 100 VH-XKM msn 11410 ex-PH-KXR (Traffic/May) was noted at Bratislava on April 8 after being painted in Skippers colours.

Tiger Airways recommenced services to Alice Springs effective April 9 with four times weekly flights from Melbourne and Sydney. A320-232 VH-VNC operated TGW952/953 Sydney-Alice Springs-Sydney while A320-232 VH-VND operated TGW436/437 Melbourne-Alice Springs-Melbourne.

Virgin Australia Group News.

In this issue we report the delivery of an A330-200 to Virgin Australia and an A320-200 to Skywest while departing was a 737-800 and two 737-700 of Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia took delivery of A330-243 VH-XFG Terrigal Beach in Melbourne on April 21 after the aircraft ferried in direct from Toulouse as VOZ9898. VH-XFG entered service on May 6 when it operated VOZ679 from Melbourne to Perth.

737-8Q8 VH-VOU was withdrawn from service on April 26 after operating VOZ981 from Sydney to Brisbane. VH-VOU ferried out of Brisbane on April 28 to Darwin and Kuala Lumpur as VOZ9021 for end of lease maintenance.

737-8Q8 VH-VOU Blue Billie was delivered to Virgin Blue in Christchurch on February 1 ‘04 after ferrying in from Boeing Field via Kahului and Pago Pago as DJ9081.

737-76Q VH-VBU was withdrawn from service on April 4 after operating VOZ786 from Cairns to Brisbane. VH-VBU ferried out of Brisbane on April 7 direct to Kuala Lumpur/Subang as VOZ9943 for end of lease maintenance.

737-76Q VH-VBU Darwin Diva was delivered to Virgin Blue in Christchurch on May 17 ’03 after ferrying in from Boeing Field via Maui and Pago Pago. VH-VBU entered service on May 28 when it operated DJ919 from Brisbane to Mackay.

737-7FE VH-VBY was withdrawn from service on May 4 after operating VOZ981 from Sydney to Brisbane. VH-VBY ferried out of Brisbane on May 9 direct to Subang as VOZ9399 for end of lease maintenance.

737-7FE VH-VBY Virgin-ia Blue, which carried a special 50th 737 in fleet blue colour scheme, was delivered to Virgin Blue in Brisbane on July 31 ’05 after ferrying in from Boeing Field via Lihue, Nadi and Coolangatta as DJ9081. VH-VBY entered service on August 9 as DJ204 from Brisbane to Sydney. VH-VBY was later painted in Virgin Australia colours and named Kingston Beach.

The departure of VH-VBU and VH-VBY reduces the Virgin Australia 737-700 fleet to just two units VH-VBV and VH-VBZ.

737-8FE VH-YFR msn 41012 and 737-8FE VH-YIU msn 40699 were registered to Virgin Australia on April 12 while 737-8FE VH-YIV msn 40698 was registered on April 16.

E-190-100IGW VH-ZPN, which carried the Pacific Blue scheme, departed Melbourne on April 5 for Darwin and all stops to Alverca, Portugal for planned maintenance.

Virgin Australia commenced operations to Bundaberg effective May 4 with ATR 72-600 VH-FVQ operating the inaugural VOZ1701 from Brisbane.

Skywest Airlines changed its name to Virgin Australia Regional Airlines on May 7 thus ending 33 years of airline service in Australia.

A320-232 VH-YUD Port Beach, which is registered to Skywest and carries the colours of Virgin Australia but will be operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines, was delivered to Perth from Seletar on May 7. Earlier on April 24-25 the all white VH-YUD was ferried from Sofia to Muscat and Seletar where the aircraft was painted in Virgin Australia colours.

Fokker 100 VH-FSQ Bills Bay returned to Perth on April 10 from Townsville and Alice Springs after being the first of type to be painted in the colours of Virgin Australia.

Fokker 50 VH-FNA Rockingham Beach departed Perth direct to Townsville on April 20 where Flying Colours painted the aircraft in the colours of Virgin Australia. VH-FNA, which was the first of type to be painted in Virgin Australia colours, ferried back into Perth from Townsville and Alice Springs on April 26.

ATR 72-600 VH-FVY Marcoola Beach entered service with Virgin Australia on April 10 when it operated VOZ1661 from Brisbane to Moranbah.

ATR 72-600 VH-FVQ was scheduled on the inaugural Virgin Australia service to Bundaberg on May 4 when it operated VOZ1701/1702 from and to Brisbane.

Regional Airline News

Catalina Airlines registered Grumman HU-16 VH-NMO ex N42MY on April 16.

Chartair took delivery of Cessna 441 N337C in Darwin on March 24 (Traffic/May) and registered the aircraft VH-JFO on April 11.
Chathams Pacific ferried Metro 111 from Auckland to Tonga on April 24 with the aircraft then commencing operations on lease to Real Tonga.

Sharp Airlines is the registered operator of Cessna 441 VH-YHV and has its name painted on the nose of the aircraft while on the tail it carries Air Adventure titles.

Toll Aviation ferried ATR 42-300F VH-TOX into Brisbane on April 24 as TFX713 from Seletar and Darwin. The ATR 42-300F had been in Seletar for planned maintenance since February 22.

Vincent Aviation has leased Beech 1900D VH-VAQ to Hevilift with the aircraft noted at Darwin on April 17 in Hevilift colours and titles however as of early May VH-VAQ continues in service with Vincent.

Bizjet News

In this issue we report the delivery of a Global Express while departing were a Gulfstream IV and a Hawker 800XP.

AVWest Aircraft purchased Global Express N709FG from Bombardier on March 28 however as of early May the Global had still not been delivered to its Perth base.

Gulfstream IV VH-DBT, which was registered to GE Commercial Australasia of Sydney and operated by ExecuJet Australia from their Essendon base, has been sold in the United States. VH-DBT departed Essendon for Apia on March 18 and was registered N1363G to the Bank of Utah in Salt Lake City May 2. Gulfstream IV VH-DBT was delivered to ExecuJet at Essendon from Honolulu and Noumea on January 21 ’08.

Hawker 800XP N800GN, which was previously registered VH-VLI, departed Essendon for Cairns on April 12 on the first leg of its delivery flight to Sapphire Aviation in Houston, Texas. On April 15 N800GN departed Cairns for Santo Pekoa, Vanuatu before continuing to Majuro and Honolulu.

Global Express VH-ZXH was registered to AVWest on August 19 ’10, however as a result of damage in a hangar fire at Indianapolis, the aircraft has never been delivered.

Latest news from Indianapolis states the Global Express, which still carries its previous registration HB-JEY, was being worked on in late March.

Falcon 2000EX N818BH, which was redelivered to Auckland on April 7 (Traffic/May) is being operated by Jet Flight Services.
Falcon 900C VH-PPD changed its registered holder from the Paspaley Pearling Company P/L to Trepang Services P/L of Parap, Northern Territory on April 15.

TGHA Aviation Falcon 900C VH-LUL, which has been hangared with Maxem Aviation at Perth since December 5 ’12, departed there on May 8 for Honiara and Honolulu.

Keeping track of the four Learjet 45s previously operated by the Singapore Flying College is a full-time occupation and in this issue we can report that Learjet 45 VH-SQD departed Jandakot for Adelaide and Sydney on April 12.

Learjet 45 VH-SQV, which has been hangared at Essendon since early March, has come to our attention as being noted at Sydney on November 7 ’12 carrying the marks VH-LJX. The Learjet 45 was never officially registered as such and by December 20 it was again carrying the registration VH-SQV.

Citation Mustang VH-MSU (Traffic/May) was delivered to its Moorabbin base on May 3 after the aircraft arrived from Bankstown and Maroochydore.

Aeromil Pacific changed the registration of Citation 11 VH-WNZ to VH-FOJ on April 3.

Citation Sovereign VH-EXQ changed its registered operator on April 1 to Australian Corporate Jet Centres P/L of Fitzroy, Victoria.
Cessna Aircraft Citation Sovereign N448RT, which was displayed at EBACE Shanghai, arrived in Brisbane from Manila and Cairns on April 23 to start a demonstration tour of Australia. N448RT operated demonstration flights from Brisbane, Sydney, Essendon and Perth before departing Perth for Cairns, Majuro and Honolulu on April 30.

King Air Fleet Update.

Blackhawk Modifications King Air 200 N831XP, which was previously operated by Papeete-based Arii Riona as F-OHCP, arrived at Ardmore from Tonga and Auckland on February 13. After undergoing maintenance at Ardmore N831XP departed on May 7 for Auckland, Lord Howe Island and Archerfield with the planned destination being South Africa.

Careflight NT has sold King Air B200 VH-ZMQ to an operator in New Zealand and prior to departure from Darwin where the King Air B200 was parked the Careflight titles were removed. VH-ZMQ departed Darwin on April 27 for Mt Isa and the Gold Coast and after overnighting Lord Howe Island, Wellington and Paraparaumu where it will reportedly be operated by Air2There.

RFDS/South Eastern King Air B200C VH-LTQ, which carries the markings of Ambulance Tasmania, arrived at Essendon from Wollongong on March 28. After maintenance was carried out in the RFDS hangar VH-LTQ departed to its new base at Launceston on April 12.

Golden Wings King 350 ZK-MMM arrived in Brisbane from Nelson and Lord Howe Island on April 19. ZK-MMM departed Brisbane for Nelson on April 27.

King Air 350 N412KA, which has been operating in Australia, departed Bankstown on April 22 for Mt Isa and Darwin and after overnighting continued to Minado.

MU-2B-25 VH-VBL, which was registered to DGH P/L of Mount Clear, Victoria on April 3, has been a long-time resident at Essendon but previously has operated as N728FN.

Pilatus PC-12/47E VH-YDU msn 1410 was noted on the production line at Stans, Switzerland on April 23.

Pilatus PC-12/47 HB-FRT msn 735, which is reported to be on delivery to a local operator, arrived at Adelaide on May 1 after ferrying in from Denpasar, Darwin and Ayers Rock.

NJI Sales Gulfstream 550 N502QS arrived in Sydney from Singapore on May 1 and after overnighting departed for Guangzhou.

NJI Sales Gulfstream 550 N531QS arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on May 3 before returning there later in the day.

AVN Air Gulfstream 550 N671LE departed Sydney for Essendon and Melbourne on April 6 before continuing to Don Muang on April 9.
Silver Stream Aviation Gulfstream 550 N773MJ callsign Jetspeed 773 arrived in Sydney from Papeete on April 12 before continuing to Invercargill on April 15.

G C Air Gulfstream 550 N3050 arrived in Melbourne from Honolulu on April 22 and after overnighting returned to Honolulu.

Blackrock Financial Management Gulfstream 550 N3788B arrived at Essendon from Sydney on April 29 and departed to Delhi on May 1.

Metrojet Gulfstream 550 B-KGP arrived in Melbourne from Hong Kong on April 11 and after overnighting departed to Seletar.

Proctor and Gamble Leasing Gulfstream V N5PG arrived in Sydney from Manila on May 1 and after overnighting continued to Melbourne.

N5PG departed Melbourne for Honolulu on May 3.

Yum Brands Gulfstream V N870CM arrived in Sydney from Auckland on April 8 and departed to Honolulu on April 12.

United States of America Gulfstream V/C-37A 99-0404 c/s Sam 623 arrived in Sydney from Pago Pago on April 9 and departed to Paya Lebar on April 11

United States of America Gulfstream V/C-37A 01-0065 c/s Spar 65 arrived in Sydney on May 4. The C-37A was later noted in Canberra and Newcastle before departing RAAF Amberley for Darwin on May 9.

Motorola Solutions Gulfstream 450 N475M arrived in Brisbane from Nadi on April 16 before continuing to Sydney and Melbourne on April 17. N475M departed Melbourne for Nadi on April 18.

Canal Air Gulfstream 450 N903G arrived in Sydney from Auckland on April 8 and departed to Nadi on April 12.

G1307 Gulfstream IV N137WS, which arrived in Sydney from Nadi on March 30, later visited Adelaide, Ayers Rock, Hamilton Island and Hobart before departing Sydney for Nadi on April 16.

Gulfstream IV N524AN arrived at Essendon from Saigon on April 25 and after overnighting departed to Rockhampton. N524AN departed Rockhampton for Majuro on April 27.

Gulfstream IV N726RW callsign PEG 26 arrived in Sydney from Penang on April 21.

N726RW departed Sydney for Port Hedland on April 30 before continuing the following day to Colombo.

Asia Jet Gulfstream 300 N388AJ transitted Cairns on April 6 while enroute from Queenstown to Manila.

Asia Aviation Global 5000 N755RA arrived in Adelaide from Seletar on April 29 before continuing to Essendon on April 30 and Brisbane on May 1. N755RA departed Brisbane for Auckland on May 2 before continuing to Sydney on May 4.

Global 5000 N3389H arrived in Sydney from Hong Kong on April 22 and departed to Queenstown on April 24. N3389H arrived in Melbourne from Auckland on April 29 before departing to Hong Kong on May 1.

Tag Aviation Asia Global 5000 B-KEZ flight TBJ026 arrived in Perth from Hong Kong on April 11 before departing to Sydney on April 15. The Global 5000 departed Sydney for Manila on April 18.

Harley Davidson Challenger 300 N88HD arrived in Sydney from Singapore and Darwin on April 10 before continuing to Melbourne on April 12. The Challenger 300 departed Melbourne for Darwin on April 14.

Wallenmount Falcon 7X HB-JFN arrived in Sydney from Seletar on April 7 before returning there on April 11.

Dasnair Falcon 7X HB-JSN arrived in Sydney from Denpasar on April 24.

Global Jet Luxembourg Falcon 7X LX-AMB arrived in Broome from Male on April 19 and departed to Rotorua on April 22.

Dassault Falcon Services Falcon 900EX F-HDLJ arrived at Hamilton Island from Singapore and Darwin on April 6 and after overnighting continued to Sydney. The Falcon 900EX was later noted at Essendon and Perth before departing for Denpasar on April 12.

Skylane Falcon 900EX M-ODKZ arrived in Sydney from Singapore on May 5.

Falcon 2000EX RP-C9215 departed Mudgee for Sydney, Darwin and Manila on April 8.

Ferry Flights

Field Air AT-802A VH-FFB in company with AT-802 VH-FFM departed Ballarat for Brisbane on April 15 on the first leg of their ferry flight to Abbotsford, British Columbia and return to service with Conair Aviation. VH-FFB and VH-FFM, which had arrived Ballarat on October 17 ’12 as C-GBPY and C-GYBX respectively for operations during the 2012/13 bushfire season, departed Brisbane on April 16 for Norfolk Island and Pago Pago.

Gateway Air Center Baron 58P N158TT completed its Pacific crossing at the Gold Coast on May 4 after ferrying in from Merced, California via Hilo, Pago Pago and Nadi.

After overnighting at the Gold Coast the Baron 58P departed for Port Macquarie.

Vee H Aviation Cessna 441 VH-VEH departed Canberra for Auckland on May 4.

Oxford Aviation Academy (Australia) Cessna 172S VH-EOF departed Moorabbin for Archerfield on May 3 before continuing to Darwin on May 5. VH-EOF then departed Darwin direct to Bandar Seri Begawan on May 8. Planned flight time on the Archerfield to Darwin and Darwin to Bandar Seri Begawan were 14 hours 37 mins and 14 hours 45 mins respectively.

Columbia 300 N189TC arrived at the Gold Coast on April 12 after completing its Trans Pacific ferry from Merced, California via Hilo and Pago Pago.

Sunair Aviation PA-23-250 ZK-PIW departed Kerikeri for Norfolk Island on April 9 and after overnighting continued to Nadi. Eventual destination was Tarawa where the PA-23-250 commenced operations on lease to Coral Sun Airways.

Coral Sun Airways PA-23-250 T3-64Z arrived at Tauranga, New Zealand for planned maintenance on April 13 after ferrying in from Tarawa via Nadi, Norfolk Island and Kerikeri.

PA-30C D-GPEZ, which departed Peterborough, UK on April 1 at the start of a round-the-world flight, arrived at Omaka, New Zealand on April 18 from Denpasar, Darwin, Ayers Rock, Birdsville, the Gold Coast, Lord Howe Island and Wellington.

TBM-850 N889JG, which was displayed at the Australian International Airshow, returned briefly to Australia in this period with the TBM-850 arriving at Launceston on April 5 from Seletar, Denpasar, Broome, Alice Springs and Adelaide. N889JG then departed Launceston on April 9 on the reverse routing back to its home base at Seletar.

Heavy Metal

The Sultan of Brunei Flight A340-212 V8-BKH arrived in Canberra from Bandar Seri Begawan on May 1 before returning there on May 3.

Comlux Aviation Malta ACJ319- 115 9H-AVK operating as flight MLM26 arrived in Sydney from Denpasar on April 26 and after overnighting departed to Kuala Lumpur.

ACJ319-115 9H-AVK was recently displayed at Australian International Airshow at Avalon.

Volga Dnepr Antonov An-124 RA-82079 operating as flight VDA2872 transitted Darwin on April 25 while en-route from Kuala Lumpur to Noumea.

Omni Aviation 767-319ER N387AX operating as flight OAE226 arrived in Darwin from Guam on April 21 and after overnighting departed to Honolulu.

767-319ER N387AX is no stranger to our part of the world as it was built on order for Air New Zealand as ZK-NCE and was operated by them between June ’01 and August ’02. The aircraft was then leased to Air Niugini as P2-ANG and was operated between August ’02 and October ’07.

Atlas Air 767-3JHF N643GT, which carries DHL colours and was operating as PAC4012, was scheduled on the first of five daily services into Sydney from Narita on April 24.

Travel Services 737-8FN OK-TVW as TSV4307 arrived in Sydney from Nadi on April 13 and departed for Port Moresby and Palau as TVS4308 on April 15.Deraya Air BAe ATP PK-DGA arrived at Bankstown from Sentani and Cairns on April 19 and after maintenance with Skyforce Aviation departed Bankstown on April 29 for Cairns and Merauke.

US Government Dornier 328-120/C-146A 10-03077 callsign ‘Magma 1’ was an interesting visitor in this period. The aircraft, which carries a civil colour scheme and no national markings, arrived in Darwin from Manado on April 7 and then visited Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane before departing Darwin for Denpasar on April 14. The C-146A callsign ‘Magma 3’ returned to Darwin from Denpasar on April 22 this time visiting Brisbane and Townsville before departing Darwin for Manado on April 26.

United States of America Beech 1900C-1/C-12J 86-0082 callsign ‘Cats 17’ arrived at Darwin from Dili on April 6 and later visited Cairns, Rockhampton and Townsville before departing Darwin for Dili and Zamboanga on April 15.
