Regional carrier Airnorth has announced a twice weekly service between Darwin and Townsville.
The flights, due to begin from February 17, will leave Darwin at 7am Monday and Friday and arrive in Townsville at 10:05am. The return flight will leave Townsville at 11:05 am and reach Darwin at 1:20 pm.

In a statement, Townsville Airport Limited COO Kevin Gill hailed the announcement as a boon to Townsville’s tourism industry that would also afford the area’s residents expanded access to destinations around Darwin as well as connecting flights overseas.
