Adf Response to Operation Kokoda Assist
Two Army Black Hawks and a Navy Sea King Were Among Several Adf Aviation Assets Involved in Operation Kokoda Assist, Working With the Pngdf to Aid the Search and Recovery Operation of the Airlines Png Twin Otter Which Crashed on August 11 Near Kokoda Claiming the Lives of All 13 Passengers and Crew Onboard.
Reports Indicated the Twin Otter, P2-mcb, One of Eight Operated by Airlines Png, Was Lining Up for a Second Approach to Land at the Kokoda Airstrip When It Hit the Side of a Nearby Mountain in the Owen Stanley Range in Poor Visibility.
