Wedgetail
Focusing on the end game
Finally, some good news for the RAAF’s much delayed Wedgetail AEW&C program emerged in late July. The program completed a comprehensive review in early July after previously being assessed by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Labs and participating in a Operational Utility Demonstration (OUD) as part of April’s Arnhem Thunder exercises in the Northern Territory.
July’s review was conducted by the CEO of the DMO, Dr Steven Gumley; the DMO’s Chief Program Manager, Warren King; and Deputy Chief of Air Force, AVM Geoff Brown; as well as senior program officials from industry including Tony Parasida, Boeing’s Vice President and General Manager of Airborne Anti-Submarine Warfare And Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance Systems; Steve Goo, Boeing’s vice president, IDS International Operations; and John Johnson, Northrop Grumman’s sector vice president and general manager of Aerospace Systems Division.
