A sight not seen since 1945, an Me 109 and Me 262 in the air together.
Warbirds
The restored Me 109 G-10 and the Me 262 replica are owned by the Messerschmitt Foundation based in Manching in Germany, and flew together at the ILA Airshow in Berlin in late May. Unfortunately the 109’s right landing gear leg gave way on landing, causing the WW2 fighter to ground loop. Pilot Walter Eichhorn climbed out of the aircraft unharmed. The Me 262 was flown by Wolfgang Schirdewahn, chief test pilot of EADS’s Military Air Systems. (Chris Gee)
