Airbus has successfully demonstrated automatic landings using satellite navigation, with trials in Mauritius and Mmbatho, South Africa in mid August. Using Differential GPS, the 100m accuracy achieved in en route GPS navigation is further improved to around 2m for automatic landings by a ground station whose precise location is known. All the ground station comprises is a small circular antenna (foreground), two small electronic boxes and a VHF antenna. (Airbus)

Mdc and Rockwell Team for Raaf Trainer
McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell Australia have announced a joint effort to offer the T-45A Goshawk and its associated training system for the RAAF lead-in fighter trainer competition. Under the agreement, McDonnell Douglas will be the prime contractor and Rockwell will be the major subcontractor for integrated logistics support and contractor logistics support activities. If the Goshawk is selected, final assembly and flight testing will be carried out by Rockwell at Avalon, Victoria, recently acquired in its purchase of Aerospace Technologies of Australia (ASTA). MDC has so far delivered 56 Goshawks to the US Navy.
