Agcat on Floats
The skies over Queensland’s Gold Coast now have a new aircraft shape not found in the spotter’s books, an open cockpit Grumman 164 Agcat biplane on floats.
It is understood that in a Queensland sky clogged with flightseeing Tiger Moths, one joyride operator opted to try and gain a commercial advantage by creating a world first by putting a former agricultural Agcat on floats! The Agcat had earlier been modified to open cockpit configuration for joyride work. Attracted by the sound of the radial engine, locals and tourists alike now look up and wonder if Indiana Jones has just hit town or has the US Navy flown out of a 1930 time warp.
