These aircraft usher in the first application of the new CF6-B0C2 powerplant which has an eventual growth potential out to 65,000/b thrust. Thai International Ushers in a New Generation of Powerplants With A300-600 Delivery

Thai international October entry into service of its first Airbus Industrie A300-600 has effectively ushered in a new era in high by-pass big fan engines.

Thai presently operates an all-GE powered fleet of 747s, DC- 1Os and A300s in an international route network that serves 41 destinations on four continents. Thai’s new A300-600s are powered by the vastly enhanced General Electric CF6-80C2 engine which features many design improvements learnt in the combined GE/Pratt & Whitney/NASA research programme to develop an Energy Efficient Engine. This programme was designated EEE (or referred to commonly as E cubed) and resulted in a second generation of advanced high by-pass turbofans exemplified in the CF6-80C2 and Pratt & Whitney PW4000 powerplants.
