The Beech C99 commuter airliner is currently undergoing US FAA certification The C99 prototype is actually a refurbished 899 which had over 15.000hrs on the airframe. Beech completely rebuilt the aircraft to C99 specifications adding latest technology avionics and equipment along with more powerful P&W PT6A-34 turboprops Deliveries of new C99 aircraft will commence towards the middle of 1981

Australian GA Growth Through the Seventies:
Figures released by DOT reveal that from 1969/70 through to 1978/79 there have been an increase in GA hours flown from 1. 1m to 1. 6m hours. This represents an increase of 55 per cent and was achieved despite a period of low activity in the early part of the decade. This growth in GA is also reflected in the increase in the number of GA aircraft and in flying training hours.
The number of aircraft on the register has grown significantly during the seventies. They increased from approximately 3500 to over 5800 in 1979. an increase of 66 per cent. A similar situation is also evident in the number of hours devoted to flight instruction. These increased from 229. 000 in 69/70 to 360,000 in 78/79, an average annual increase of just over 5 per cent.
