Controls Caused Gripen Crash: The crash of a Saab Gripen fighter during an air show at Stockholm in early August was caused by a known problem with thefly-by-wireflight controls. The Gripen was completing a 360 turn at the low speed of 154 knots (285kmh) at a height of 900ft (280m) when the nose suddenly dropped.
