Waters takes over from acting CEO Kate Holsgrove, who has been in the position since the exit of Kevin Brown last December. Though he does not have an aviation background, he previously served as CEO of Synergy and Verve Energy before his role at Perth Mint.
Registered N140CG, Tanker 133 – nicknamed Froy – departed California on 24 November, touching down at Richmond, NSW, shortly before 4:30pm on Monday ready for duty with the NSW Rural Fire Service. It is one of five Hercules planes purchased from the Norwegian Air Force in 2019.
The small stone chips, which were found at a depth of around two metres in archaeological digs undertaken in preparation for the project, will be displayed following consultation with traditional Whadjuk custodians. It is estimated the fragments could be up to 40,000 years old.
NJE will operate two weekly charter flights from Perth to Kalgoorlie and Kambalda using its E190 and Dash 8-400NG aircraft for an unnamed Goldfields mining company, as well as three weekly E190 flights between Perth and Woodie Woodie for Consolidated Minerals.
The service, flown with 232-seat A330-200 aircraft, will operate three times per week between 20 January and 18 February 2024 over the Chinese New Year period. It follows a previous trial route in January 2020, which was cancelled due to the onset of COVID-19.
The news will add competition for other carriers operating the route, including Qantas, which flies daily, and subsidiary Scoot.
