The airport has partnered with taxi dispatcher A2B, which supports 13cabs, Silver Top, Black and White, and Silver Service, to install three kiosks this month at the Qantas domestic terminal which will allow passengers to pre-book taxis for a guaranteed fare.

Official BITRE figures released for last financial year showed that Qantas Group beat Virgin Australia overall on both on-time arrivals and on-time departures, but that Virgin had the highest completion rate of the major airlines.

The Australian government has expressed its concerns to the Chinese government following the incident involving People’s Liberation Army–Air Force aircraft on 19 October this year. The RAAF aircraft was operating within international law while conducting a maritime surveillance patrol in the South China Sea at the time.

The Herald has reported that “sources with knowledge of the deal”, who cannot speak publicly, said the announcement – alongside the terms of the buyout – could be made as early as this week after Air T agreed to the deal first rumoured to be in the works last month.
