Qantas will have a new chairman from October, with Leigh Clifford to retire after more than a decade in the role and to be replaced by Richard Goyder. Clifford, who has been chairman of Qantas and a board member since 2007, will step down as a director of the company at the annual general meeting

Virgin Australia has named Merren McArthur as the chief executive of the airline group’s low-cost carrier (LCC) unit Tigerair Australia.
