The deal, valued at US$1.5 billion, comes as part of a fleet modernisation program and will allow Pakistan International to introduce new long haul routes, the Karachi based airline said. Indonesia’s Lion Air will become the world’s largest operator of ATR turboprops with an order for 27 ATR 72-600s. The order, valued at $610 million and announced today at the Singapore Airshow, will bring Lion Air’s ATR fleet to 60 aircraft. The 68 to 74 seat turboprops will be operated by regional subsidiary Wings Air.
