The airport is installing body scanners and 3D x-ray bag scanners across all of its screening lanes, which will eliminate the need for passengers to remove items such as laptops, tablets and aerosols from their bags.
The airport has released 27 hectares of developable land, its largest single release since 2002, and is looking to increase direct air freight access to Adelaide and encourage more cargo to travel through the city rather than larger gateways like Sydney or Melbourne.

When it opens in 2026, WSI will be capable of welcoming five million passengers, but that will rocket to 80 million by 2063. To put those figures in context, that’s almost twice as many as the regular Sydney Kingsford Smith today.
The proposal would give general aviation pilots a new corridor in class G airspace, giving them a more direct route to Bankstown from the southeast and relieving congestion in the north and west.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has confirmed it will fly from the 24-hour greenfield airport when it opens in 2026, connecting WSI non-stop to Singapore Changi Airport. The announcement follows a memorandum of understanding signed between WSI and SIA in 2023.
