Qatar Airways has added a fifth Australian destination to its international network, with the inaugural flight to Canberra touching down on Monday morning. Flight QR906, operated by Boeing 777-300ER A7-BEP, arrived at Canberra at about 0930 on Monday, after a short one-hour hop from Sydney that included a fly-past of the city prior to landing.

Qantas plans to launch a new daily nonstop flight between Bali and Melbourne while its low-cost-carrier (LCC) unit Jetstar adds more services on the route. Qantas plans to offer 10 flights a week between Brisbane and Los Angeles from September 1 as its fleet of Boeing 787-9s joins the 747-400s currently operating the route. Philippine Airlines (PAL) will offer nonstop flights to Brisbane from its Manila hub from late March with Airbus A340-300s. The new three times weekly service begins on March 27 2018 and replaces the current one-stop option via Darwin with Airbus A320 narrowbodies. It will increase to four flights a week from May 1 2018, PAL
