Qantas and Sydney Airport have commenced trials of facial recognition technology for passengers departing on international flights. Qantas has taken delivery of its fifth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with the factory-fresh aircraft touching down in Melbourne on Sunday evening. Registered VH-ZNE, Qantas says the aircraft has been named Skippy, joining VH-ZNA Great Southern Land, VH-ZNB Waltzing Matilda, VH-ZNC Quokka and VH-ZND Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Qantas has made some equipment changes on flights from Perth to Singapore and Sydney due to what it says are pilot training requirements.
