Daily United Airlines flights from Sydney to San Francisco have been selected for the trial of US Customs and Border Protection’s International Remote Baggage Screening, which removes the need to re-check baggage onto connecting flights in the US.
Flight QF1672 touched down in Hobart at around 1:40pm on Friday afternoon aboard VH-8NQ, returning to Perth shortly before 3pm. The route revives a service last operated in 2023, and will fly three times per week, providing an extra 32,000 annual seats between Tasmania and WA.
The proposal would see up to 20 per cent of Hudson’s total share rights under the Qantas long-term incentive program vest based on the Flying Kangaroo’s reputation score, as tracked by external firm RepTrak. The Qantas board is also raising her salary from $1.65 million to $1.7 million.

Passengers travelling in economy on select domestic and short-haul international flights can bid to keep their neighbouring seats open as of this Wednesday, offering extra space. Bids are not open to passengers travelling in Economy X or business class seats, and extra baggage is not included.
