The service, to launch on 21 November, is Bonza’s first outside the eastern seaboard, and will connect it to its fourth state after Queensland, NSW and Victoria. With 11 other routes planned from its new Gold Coast base, Bonza will operate 34 concurrent routes to 18 destinations.
It comes after the Flying Kangaroo on Thursday confirmed a huge order for 12 new 787 Dreamliners and 12 Airbus A350s to replace the bulk of its ageing widebody fleet.
The huge new deal will see next generation Boeing and Airbus aircraft replace its ageing fleet of A330s.
The widely expected news comes after it recorded a record $1.428 billion half-year profit, which it put down to a better-than-expected demand for flying post-COVID.
The aircraft are set to arrive from late 2024 and will add more than 9,000 seats per week to its network.
The Qantas CEO will appear before a Senate committee for the first time since 2014, when he faces the Senate Select Committee on the Cost of Living next Monday.
