The news of VH-UJK's departure is a significant blow to the carrier’s hopes of being able to quickly restart operations if it finds a buyer, given the global lack of larger aircraft post-COVID-19.
The twice-weekly return service to Hanoi will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing Melbourne at 0730 and touching down in Hanoi at 1440 on the same day.
Starting 9 July, Virgin will fly every day between Brisbane and Port Vila except Thursdays, with two return services on Saturdays. The airline has seen strong demand for Brisbane–Port Vila flights since increasing frequency from two to five per week following the collapse of Air Vanuatu.
