Former Rex executive chairman Lim Kim Hai allegedly recorded the meeting at the end of July, at which the board voted to appoint EY as administrators, without the consent of those present, according to reports in The Australian and The Australian Financial Review.
The free bookings, which were announced as Rex went into administration on 31 July, are enough to fill around 715 737-800s at full capacity, with 30,000 of the rebooked flights having already been taken.
A list of allegations, based on alleged breaches of Virgin’s policies pertaining to alcohol consumption and fatigue management, was made against cabin crew member Dylan Macnish by his former employer over conduct ranging from September 2023 to the end of that year.
Flight QZ542 landed from Denpasar at 6:10am on Thursday aboard the A320-200 PK-AZD, leaving around an hour later. Announced in June, the return flights between Cairns and Bali will operate three times per week, adding more than 28,000 seats to the Cairns market in the first year.
In a statement, Transport Minister Catherine King announced that passengers on all regional flights booked through Rex since it entered administration at 9:31pm on 30 July will “either fly or get their money back”.
The union said these workers are among the lowest-paid in the industry, with some receiving base pay of just over $50,000 annually, and could receive pay rises of more than $10,000 if the applications are successful, bringing their pay in line with Jetstar’s directly-employed cabin crew.
