Slated to launch next year, the academy – billed as the first of its kind in Australia – will be open both online and on RMIT’s campus, and will include areas such as safety culture, risk management, and human safety factors such as sleep and fatigue.
The pilot program, announced in August, allows eligible Qantas customers to access and fill out the Australia Digital Travel Declaration through the Qantas app up to 72 hours before departure, removing the need for the physical Incoming Passenger Card.

In its application to the competition watchdog, Virgin requested interim authorisation for the flights by November 2024 for a launch in June 2025, to coincide with the peak northern summer period as well as major events like the 2025 British and Irish Lions rugby tour.
The plane was originally expected to arrive in the country this month to help launch Skytrans’ wet-leasing business after its acquisition earlier this year by global aviation firm Avia Solutions Group.
