Senior executive Andrew David has admitted the airline is “absolutely not delivering” on service but argued its problems are being replicated around the world.

Qantas’ domestic and international CEO has written an op-ed defending the airline after its recent problems. Here, we publish it in full: 

The Malaysian budget airline will fly three-times-weekly services to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Auckland before increasing to a daily schedule by the first quarter of 2023.

The aircraft was released on Saturday afternoon after engineers worked on the issue throughout the week.

Qantas and Rex have been involved in a long-running dispute over network expansion, with Rex launching flights between major capital cities and Qantas flying on previously small, Rex-exclusive routes.  

The announcement was widely expected after the federal government formally dropped its rule earlier this month.
