Launch pricing has been revealed for a Melbourne-style shuttle bus that will serve Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) when it opens.

The express “Super Shuttle WSI” electric bus service will link the new airport with Parramatta, Sydney CBD, and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, similarly to Melbourne Airport’s “SkyBus” service. Tickets will be available at kiosks in and around the WSI terminal.

One-way adult tickets will launch at $25 to Parramatta, $55 to the CBD, and $65 to Kingsford Smith Airport, with services initially scheduled to align with departing and arriving flights.

“With the launch of passenger services from 25 October, we’re thrilled to announce Super Shuttle WSI’s express and direct shuttle bus services – available to passengers from the first flight,” said WSI CEO Simon Hickey.

“Our focus is on making every stage of the journey as smooth and straightforward as possible, including travel to and from the airport.

“Passengers will be able to enjoy a great onboard experience including luggage racks, dedicated space for prams and wheelchairs, and exclusive bus bays for boarding and disembarking at the airport.

“Super Shuttle WSI will provide a comfortable and convenient connection between WSI and some of Sydney’s major transport centres, no matter what time of day or night you are arriving or departing.”

The buses will be operated by NSBC Group, and its chief commercial officer Paul Anderson said each will have space for 37 passengers seated and additional standing, as well as two wheelchair users.

“We are pleased to offer this highly convenient private shuttle service to passengers from when the first flights take off from WSI on October 25, aligned across WSI’s evolving flight schedule,” he said.

“It’s especially great to be able to offer discounted prices for the launch of Super Shuttle WSI – including for adults, children, and families travelling together.

“The direct, express nature of our services will deliver passengers to the hearts of the Parramatta and Sydney CBDs, as well as Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport, with a comfortable, efficient and reliable service.”

WSI’s metro link to St Marys, initially slated to open alongside the airport, has been delayed to at least next year; in its place, a free bus service will connect the airport to St Marys, where passengers can transfer to the Sydney Trains network.
