Australia’s leading artificial intelligence innovators are being called on to showcase their achievements, with submissions and nominations officially opening for the Australian AI Awards 2026.
Now in its third year, the Australian AI Awards has become the country’s premier recognition program for excellence in artificial intelligence, celebrating the people, organisations and technologies shaping the future of one of Australia’s fastest-growing industries.
The 2026 awards program features 37 categories recognising outstanding contributions across individual leadership, organisational excellence and cutting-edge AI solutions, highlighting innovation across sectors ranging from finance and healthcare to defence, education, manufacturing and professional services.
The awards provide a national platform for researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, executives and technology teams whose work is delivering measurable impact through the development and application of artificial intelligence.
Whether developing breakthrough AI platforms, transforming business operations through intelligent automation, or advancing research that pushes the boundaries of the technology, entrants are encouraged to put their achievements before an independent panel of judges drawn from industry, academia and government.
For those unable to submit an entry themselves, the awards also offer a nomination process, allowing colleagues, clients and peers to recognise individuals, teams or organisations making a significant contribution to Australia’s AI ecosystem. Nominations can be submitted anonymously, with successful nominees invited to complete a formal submission for judging.
Each entry will be assessed against a transparent judging methodology designed to ensure a fair, rigorous and consistent evaluation process. Winners and finalists will have the opportunity to celebrate alongside Australia’s leading AI professionals at the Australian AI Awards gala in Sydney.
The awards have rapidly established themselves as an important benchmark for excellence, reflecting the growing maturity of Australia’s AI sector and recognising those turning emerging technologies into real-world capability, commercial success and societal benefit.
Key dates for the 2026 program are:
- Submissions and nominations open: Tuesday, 14 July 2026
- Submissions close: Friday, 14 August 2026
- Finalists announced: Thursday, 10 September 2026
- Australian AI Awards gala: Friday, 30 October 2026, Hyatt Regency Sydney
With entries now officially open, innovators from across Australia’s AI community are encouraged to review the 37 award categories and identify the category that best reflects their achievements.
Those seeking national recognition for their work or looking to celebrate the accomplishments of colleagues, teams or organisations have until Friday, 14 August 2026 to submit an entry or nomination ahead of this year’s awards program.
