“Singapore Flying College is a prime example of the international investment opportunities regional NSW has to offer,” Minns said.

“This state-of-the-art training facility cements Tamworth’s place as one of the leading pilot training hubs in the country and will help create skilled jobs and deliver long-term economic benefits for Tamworth and the broader region for years to come.”

The new training school in Tamworth builds on SFC’s long-standing pilot training operations in Western Australia, and is set to expand steadily over the next five years.

Since opening in April 2025, the school has already begun shaping the next generation of pilots, welcoming an initial intake of 20 cadets; By the end of the year, 32 cadets had successfully completed their training.

“Singapore Flying College’s new purpose-built school in Tamworth will strengthen Singapore Airlines’ pilot training capabilities,” said Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Flight Operations and Chairman of SFC, Captain Eugene Antoni.

“By increasing training capacity, we can continue providing an exceptional learning environment for our cadets, and support a strong pipeline of future aviation professionals.”

The college provides students with a professional training environment, including a fleet of four Cessna 172 aircraft, a dedicated flight simulator, and newly refurbished accommodation.

Mayor of Tamworth, Russell Webb, has emphasised how Tamworth is not only the ideal place for the SFC’s operations, but for prospective students to grow and strengthen their aviation career.

“With over 300 favourable flying days annually, Tamworth is the ideal setting for cadets looking to take off in their aviation careers,” Webb said.

“I look forward to seeing the development in the region’s aviation capabilities and seeing Tamworth play a part in the industry’s growth and success.”
