The Flying Kangaroo has expressed confidence that it can avoid a second chaotic Easter holiday period in a row, with extra aircraft and employees waiting on standby to avert disruptions.

The ATC operator expects around 80 new trainees will become operational in the 2024 financial year, and is recruiting a further 140 for 2025, after which it plans to recruit an extra 80-140 trainees per year.

The aircraft, from RAAF Bases Edinburgh, Amberley, and Williamtown, cooperated with HMA Ships Hobart and Sydney in the exercise from 17 March to 3 April.

CEO Dan Hart said in a new statement he believed the “cutting-edge technology” created by the business would have “wide appeal to buyers”.

The business’ general manager, Simon Rossi, said the company thinks it could implement the change in Australia by the end of the year, in what would represent a ‘holy grail’ moment for the sector.
