Jetstar has today resumed its seasonal service from Brisbane to Uluru, which will operate three times per week until October.

The airline will fly between Brisbane and Uluru on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday using Airbus A320 aircraft. The first flight, JQ667 on board the A320-200 VH-XNN, touched down at Ayers Rock Airport at around 11am on Thursday.

Jetstar is the largest airline operating flights to Uluru, with up to 26 services per week to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

“We’ve seen strong demand for flights between Brisbane and Uluru since launching the route in 2018 and we expect demand to be even higher in 2023,” said Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully.

“With one-way fares starting from just $168, the direct flight will give travellers from Queensland and those connecting into Brisbane from our international services, a unique opportunity to explore the heart of the continent and all it has to offer.”

The resumption of the Brisbane service comes a month after the launch of Wintjiri Wiru, the world’s largest ongoing drone show. The show uses 1,000 drones to form images in the night sky of the Mala ancestral story, which sits between Kaltukatjara (Docker River) and Uluru.

Matthew Cameron-Smith, CEO of Voyages Indigenous Tourism, says Wintjiri Wiru is connecting tourists with the local Anangu culture.

“Indigenous tourism is increasingly important to domestic and international travellers and the restart of this service from Brisbane will provide visitors with direct access to one of the world’s most ancient and fascinating cultures,” said Cameron-Smith.

“It also couldn’t come at a better time following the recent global launch of Wintjiri Wiru, which combines ancient Anangu storytelling with state-of-the-art drone, laser and light projection technology.”

“It is the first time an experience of this magnitude has been performed on a regular basis anywhere in the world.”
