To sleep perchance to dream or, perchance, to be social! JOHN WALTON

To door or not to door

That is the business class big question

Do business class travellers really want a privacy door? After overwhelmingly positive responses to seats such as the Qatar Airways Qsuite and the Delta ONE Suite, the big question up front for the next five to 10 years is essentially whether people in the pointy end want to be social creatures or want to cocoon themselves away.

The pros and cons in the debate have recently been put forward by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, both on the Airbus A350-1000 widebody twinjet, and both with the latest models of the current generation of herringbone-style fully flat beds with direct aisle access, where the seats are arranged at an angle from the aircraft centreline and the feet of one passenger tuck underneath the side table of the passenger next to them.
