How British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines acquired its DC-6 fleet

British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines Ltd (BCPA), was registered on June 24 1946 to operate airline services from Australia across the Pacific to North America. Initial services were operated by chartered Australian National Airways DC-4s and later by its own DC-4s.

BCPA needed more suitable aircraft as a matter of urgency. John Watkins, TAA’s Technical Superintendent was also appointed to BCPA as technical advisor to obtain aircraft for the trans-Pacific route.
