Defence contemplates Tiger upgrade or replacement
The long-term future of the Tiger ARH in Army service will be determined by a competitive evaluation scheduled for early next decade that will compare upgrading the Tiger with its early replacement, the head of the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group’s Helicopter Systems Division has said.
Speaking at the Army Aviation Symposium held during the Land Forces exhibition in Adelaide in early September, MAJGEN Andrew Mathewson said he expected the Tiger ARH to remain in ADF service until 2030, even if Defence opts to replace it with a new type, as foreshadowed by the 2016 Defence White Paper released earlier this year.
