Register Review
The only new aircraft type listed in the New Allocations this issue is Josef Melvald’s JZD-37 UCL. Not much is known about this aircraft, only that it is an amateur-built machine powered by an Avia M462- RF nine-cylinder radial engine. The Czech-built powerplant is air cooled and supercharged and produces around 310hp (232kW) and drives an Avia V520 prop.
XNC is the first of four Bombardier Challenger 604s for Cobham SAR Services that will replace the five Dornier 328s presently operated by Aerorescue on the Australian Maritime Safety Authority search and rescue contract. The aircraft will be based at Perth, Cairns and Melbourne with one aircraft used as an operational spare. All four aircraft are expected to be delivered before the $640 million contract commences in August.
