Register Review
Most interesting of the New Allocations this month is Rotor Force at Woodford, Queensland which has imported the first two McDonnell Douglas 600N helicopters to be seen on the local register, EPJ and EPY.
Rotor Force specialises in very low-level powerline surveys and has been very conscious of the noise footprint of its helicopters operating at only tree top height. With this in mind it has mainly employed the McDonnell Douglas 520N which, because of its NOTAR (no tail rotor) design, has a very low noise level and to date the company has had no noise complaints despite a number of years of operations all over Australia. With more modern survey equipment now available Rotor Force is able to conduct its powerline surveys from a higher level but are still conscious of the anti-noise lobby and so continue to operate McDonnell Douglas NOTAR helicopters.
