The potential for better things to come
The last decade has been very frustrating for anyone interested in aviation policy and safety outcomes, but some recent activities may be indicating a slow change towards a much more positive future.
While CASR Part 61 continues to cause consternation on a number of fronts including cost, practicality and quality, a new exemption provides some evidence that CASA has realised that the rule-set is far from perfect. Many application chief pilots simply do not have easy access to an ATO/Examiner able to conduct an annual operator proficiency check.
