737-838 VH-XZN Wagga Wagga, which was delivered to Qantas on September 4 (Traffic/October), entered service on September 8 when it operated QF511 from Brisbane to Sydney.

737-838 VH-XZP msn 44577, which is the last of type currentlyon order for Qantas, was planned for delivery in November. Qantas has announced this aircraft will feature a “retro” Qantas livery featuring the flying kangaroo.

737-838 VH-VXB Yananyi Dreaming ferried as QF6019 from Darwin to Singapore/Seletar on September 8 where it was repainted in the standard Qantas livery. Now named Yananyi, on September 23 VH-VXB as QF6014 ferried from Seletar to Darwin and re-entered service early the following morning as QF829 from Darwin to Sydney. On VXB’s nose next to the name Yananyi there is a small painting ofUluru together with a frilled lizard.

737-838 VH-VXK ferried from Darwin to Seletar as QF6019 on September 24 where on arrival it was repainted in the current Qantas livery.

737-476 VH-TJK, which was registered N937NZ on August 27 (Traffic/October), ferried from Victorville to Dothan, Alabama on August 29. There it is understood the 737 will be converted to freight configuration by Aeronautical Engineers. 737-476 VH-TJZ, which has been stored at Victorville since October 22 ’13, was cancelled from the register on September 25 as ‘exported to South Africa’.

767-338ER VH-OGJ was withdrawn from service in Sydney on October 6 after operating QF529 from Brisbane.

767-338ER VH-OGN was withdrawn from service on September 20 after it operated QF430 from Melbourne to Sydney.

With its Qantas titles and kangaroo removed VH-OGN departed Sydney on September 28 as QF6017 to Victorville where it was placed in storage.

VH-OGN City of Devonport was originally delivered to Qantasin Sydney on August 25 ’94 as QF8531from Paine Field and Nadi and entered service with Qantas on August 31 ’94 when it operated QF49 from Sydney to Auckland.

767-338ER VH-OGR was withdrawn from service on September 12 after it operated QF462 from Melbourne to Sydney. With its Qantas titles and kangaroo removed VH-OGR departed Sydney on September 19 as QF6160 to Alice Springs where it was placed in storage with Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage.

VH-OGR was delivered to Sydney on June 9 ’97 as QF6094 from Paine Field and Nadi and entered service with Qantas on June 28 ’97 when it operatedQF89 from Sydney to Cairns and Sapporo.

767-338ER VH-OGU operated the final scheduled international passenger service by type for Qantas on September 12 as QF4 from Honolulu to Sydney (arriving September 13).

Qantas commenced A380 services on the Sydney-Dallas/ Ft Worth-Sydney route on September 29 with A380-842 VH-OQL operating the inaugural QF7/8. To commemorate the flight the kangaroo on VH-OQL’s tail was decorated with a stetson and a neckerchief.

A380-842 VH-OQG, which had been in Manila for maintenancesince August 19 (Traffic/October), ferried from Manila to Sydney as QF6010 on September 21.

A380-842 VH-OQI ferried from Sydney to Manila as QF6009 on September for planned maintenance with Lufthansa Technik.

A330-202 VH-EBA Cradle Mountain was registered to Qantas on August 24 and on September 9 it ferried from Singapore to Brisbane as QF6006 after being repainted from Jetstar to Qantas colours. VH‑EBA re-entered service with Qantas on September 21 when it operated QF589 from Brisbane to Perth.

A330-202 VH-EBC Surfers Paradise ferried from Singapore to Brisbane as QF6006 on September 21 after being repainted in Qantas colours. VH-EBC reentered service with Qantas on September 24 when it operated QF597 from Brisbane to Perth.

A330-202 VH-EBD, which was withdrawn from Jetstar service on September 4 (Traffic/October), was registered to Qantas on September 5.

Qantas cancelled the registrations of seven 747-438 aircraft stored at Victorville on September 8 as ‘exported to the USA’. The reregistrations saw:»»VH-OJB become N954JM; »»OJE become N955JM; »»OJF become N956JM; »»OJL become N953JM; »»OJN become N958JM; »»OJP become N952JM; and »»OJQ become N951JM.

QantasLink ferried 717‑200 VH-VXD from Brisbane to Townsville as QF6200 on September 25 and on arrival it entered the Flying Colours hangar to be painted in the current QantasLink livery.

Jetstar Hong Kong has sold A320-232/S F-WHUK msn 5835, which was the prospective B-KJE, to Tianjin Airlines. Now registered B-1618 the A320 departed Toulouse on September 17 for Astana, Kazakhstan and Tianjin where it arrived on September 18. B-1618 was delivered to Tianjin Airlines still carrying the basic colours of Jetstar.

Jetstar Japan has A320-232/S JA19JJ msn 6296 on order.

Network Aviation cancelled EMB-120ER VH-NHZ, which is stored at Perth, from the register on September 15 as ‘no longer airworthy’.

Airline news

In this issue we report the delivery of a 777-300ER and a 787-9 to Air New Zealand and an ATR 72‑600 to ANZ Link/Mount Cook. Departures comprise the Transpacific Heavylift DC-8-73F and an Air New Zealand 737-300.

AirCalin leased A340-313 F-OJTN from Air Tahiti Nui to cover planned maintenance (Traffic/ October) and it continued in service until September 24 when Air Tahiti Nui A340-313 F-OLOV took over operating the lease.

A330-202 F-OHSD returned to Noumea as ACI981 on September 23 after maintenance and a repaint at Paya Lebar. In Traffic/October we inadvertently called F-OHSD an A320-202 instead of an A330-202.

A330-202 F-OJSE departed Noumea for Paya Lebar as ACI980 for planned maintenance and a repaint.

Air New Zealand took delivery of 777-319ER ZK-OKS in Auckland on September 27 after it ferried in from Paine Field as NZ6397.

787-9 ZK-NZF was delivered to Air New Zealand in Auckland on September 29 after it ferried in from Paine Field as NZ6398. The 787 entered service on October 2 when it operated NZ103 from Auckland to Sydney.

747-419 ZK-NBV Christchurch was scheduled on the final AirNew Zealand service by type on September 10 when it operated NZ7 from San Francisco to Auckland (arriving September 12). ZK-NBV had its Air New Zealand titles and koru removed before it ferried out of Auckland to Los Angeles and Roswell, New Mexico as NZ6074 on October 13.

737-33A ZK-NGP, which was withdrawn from service in Christchurch on August 10 (Traffic/ October), ferried out of Christchurch on October 2 to Apia, Honolulu and Goodyear, Arizona.

737-3K2 ZK-NGK, which was withdrawn from service in Christchurch on March 20 ’13, was noted having its wings removed on September 15.

A320-232 ZK-OJA was painted in the Air New Zealand fern colour scheme in Christchurch between August 31 and September 8.

A320-232 ZK-OJB was painted in the fern colour scheme in Christchurch between September 7 and September 15 with A320‑232 ZK‑OJD following between September 14 and September 22.

Air New Zealand Link/Eagle Airways withdrew Beech 1900D ZK-EAA from service on September 21 after the aircraft operated NZ2211 from Auckland to Hamilton.

Air New Zealand Link/Mount Cook took delivery of ATR 72‑600 ZK-MVE at Christchurch on October 6. The ATR was ferried from Toulouse to Christchurch by Southern Cross as SXI1420 with the aircraft routed via Alexandria, Al Ain, Nagpur, Penang, Koepang and Brisbane. Airwork ferried 737-3B7(SF) ZK-FXT from Brisbane to Budapest via Darwin, Subang and Sharjah on October 4 for planned maintenance.

To cover the downtime on ZK-FXT Airwork ferried 737-3S1(F) ZK-TLE from Auckland to Brisbane on October 3.

Alliance placed Fokker 70 VH‑QQW into service on September 24 when the aircraft operated QQ1070 from Brisbane to Emerald. The Fokker 70 had been delivered to Alliance in Brisbane on February 23 ’13 as YR-KMC.

Fokker 70 OE-LFK was planned for delivery to Alliance in June with the aircraft purchased from Austrian Airlines as a source of spare parts.

The Fokker has since been leased back to Austrian and is not now planned for delivery until May ’15. Transpacific Heavylift Airlines has reportedly ceased operations and on October 5 its DC-8-73F, OB‑2059P, ferried out of Brisbane for Kuala Lumpur as flight PVN600. The DC-8 arrived in Brisbane on December 20 ’13 and entered service on March 11 from Brisbane to Nauru.

Virgin Group news

In this issue we report the deliveries of an A330-200 and 737‑800 to Virgin Australia and the departure of an A330-200 of Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia took delivery of A330-243 VH-XFJ Gnaraloo Bay in Brisbane on September 24 after the aircraft ferried in from Toulouse via Singapore and Sydney as VOZ9948/9014/9939. VH-XFJ ferried from Brisbane to Melbourne as VOZ9902 on October 6 and entered service on October 7 as VOZ693 from Melbourne to Perth.

A330-243 VH-XFB was withdrawn from service in Melbourne on September 12 after operating VOZ694 from Perth. VH-XFB as VOZ9941 ferried out of Melbourne to Singapore on September 16 for end of lease maintenance.

VH-XFB was delivered to Virgin Australia in Melbourne on May 4 ’11 after ferrying in from Subang and Sydney as DJ9060.

A330-243 VH-XFA, which ferried from Melbourne to Singapore on August 17 for end of lease maintenance (Traffic/October), was noted there on October 3 now carrying the colours of the Brazilian operator Azul.

737-8FE VH-YIW Mona Vale Beach was delivered to Virgin Australia in Brisbane on September 19 after the aircraftferried in from Boeing Field via Lihue and Nadi as VOZ9940. VH‑YIW entered service with Virgin Australia on October 1 when it operated VOZ601 from Brisbane to Mackay.

737-8FE VH-YIZ Black Rock, which was delivered to Brisbane on September 1 (Traffic/October), entered service on September 15 when it operated VOZ704 from Brisbane to Hobart.

737-8FE VH-BZG was painted in Virgin Australia colours in Townsville between August 28 and September 9 and while there was named Vivonne Bay.

737-8FE VH-VUE was painted in Virgin Australia colours in Townsville between September 11 and September 23 and while there was named Curl Curl Beach.

737-8FE ZK-PBM was painted in Virgin Australia colours inChristchurch between September 21 and October 6.

Tigerair registered A320-232 VH-XUH on July 9, but the aircraft was never delivered to Australia and was cancelled from the register on September 12 as ‘aircraft delivery cancelled’.

Tigerair/Singapore ferried A320-232 9V-TRQ from Singapore to Darwin and Alice Springs as TGW4F on September 22 and on arrival it was placed in storage.

At Alice Springs 9V-TRQ joined A320‑232 9V-TRO, A319-132s 9V-TRA and 9V-TRB, Qantas 767‑338ER VH-OGR and Nauru Airlines 737-3YO VH-INU in storage.

Regional airline news

In this issue we report the delivery of an ATR 42-600 to Fiji Link, an ATR 42-500 to Hevilift (PNG) and a DHC-6-300 to Polynesian.

Fiji Link took delivery of ATR 42-600 DQ-FJY at Nadi on September 11 after the aircraft arrived from Toulouse via Colombo, Seletar, Ambon and Port Moresby.

The ferry which was operated as SXA1164 was contracted to Southern Cross.

GAM Dornier 228‑201 VH‑VJF was removed from the register on September 18 with the annotation ‘cancelled from the register by CASA action due failure of new owner to apply to become registration holder’.

Hevilift (PNG) took delivery of ATR 42-500 OY-RUJ msn 497 at Cairns on September 27 after the aircraft arrived from Kupang on completion of its ferry flight which originated at Esbjerg, Denmark.

DHC-6-300 P2-KSF was written off in an accident near Port Moresby on September 20 while operating aflight from Woitape to Port Moresby.

Hevilift (Indonesia) DHC‑6‑300 PK-FUR was noted at Cairns on September 2.

Polynesian Airlines took delivery of DHC-6-300 C-FHKB msn 402 at Apia on October 4 after the aircraft ferried in from North Bend, Oregon and Hilo. From North Bend to Hilo and from Hilo to Apia planned flight times for C-FHKB were over 14 hours.

Bizjet news

In this issue we report the deliveries of a Sovereign, Citation CJ4 and a Beechjet 400A and the imminent delivery of a Gulfstream 650.

Departing was a Learjet 45.

Gulfstream 650 VH-LUY msn 6086 was registered to Marcplan Charter of Essendon Fields, Victoria on September 12. However, on September 22 VH‑LUY was cancelled from the register as ‘exported to Bermuda’. As of early October it had not been delivered to its Essendon base.

Gulfstream IV VH-CGF changed its registered holder on September 11 to Vendome Investments (Australia) of South Melbourne.

Citation 680 Sovereign VH‑PYN, which was registered to Gulf Aircraft of Gatton, Queensland on July 23, arrived in Brisbane from Pago Pago on October 6.

Beechjet 400A VH-EIG was registered on September 10 with the registration holder listed as Careflight of Wentworthville, NSW and the operator Business Aviation Solutions of Toronto, NSW.

VH-EIG arrived in Darwin from Denpasar on October 2.

Citation CJ4 F-ONCP msn 525C- 0164, which was registered to Noumea Renting of Noumea, New Caledonia on September 19, arrived at Noumea on September 26 from Guam, Chuuck and Honiara.

Citation CJ2+ F-ONYY of Noumea Renting is currently being advertised for sale. It had arrived at Bankstown from Sydney and Noumea/Magenta on July 28 and remained there until October 3 when it returned to Noumea via Sydney.

Learjet 45 VH-SQD was cancelled from the register on September 9 as ‘exported to San Marino’. On September 11, now registered T7-SCI, it departed Sydney for Mount Isa, Darwin and Denpasar (arriving September 12).

Falcon 20F-5 VH-FAI changed its registered holder on August 5 to NAB Ltd of Melbourne and its registered operator to Business Aviation Solutions of Toronto, NSW.

Westwind II ZK-RML changed its registered owner to Pacific Jets of Auckland on August 22 and its registration to ZK-PJA on September 30.

In propjet news Cessna 425 N425HB 425-0073, which crossed the North Atlantic in late August, is reported to be on delivery to New Zealand.

Commander 690 VH-NYC had been in storage at Essendon for a number of years and was cancelled on September 12 as ‘aircraft removed from register’.

MU-2G VH-JES also had been in long-term storage at Essendon. It was disassembled and trucked out of the airport in late August.

Gulfstream 650 N650PR arrived in Brisbane from Honolulu on September 7 before continuing to Melbourne on September 20. It returned to Brisbane on September 22 before departing for Subang on September 25. Liberty Mutual Insurance Gulfstream 550 N45JE arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on September 14 before continuing to Hamilton Island on September 18. It departed for Cairns and Nadi on September 23.

Gulfstream 550 N107VS arrived in Melbourne from Halim on September 20 before continuing to Sydney on September 22. It departed Sydney for Honolulu on September 24.

Alltech Gulfstream 550 N310TK arrived in Adelaide from Auckland on September 23 and after overnighting, operated a return flight to Melbourne. It departed Adelaide for Don Muang on September 25.

American Express Gulfstream 550 N552X arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on September 16 before returning to Honolulu on September 19.

Du Pont Aviation Gulfstream 550 N581D arrived in Sydney fromSingapore on September 21 before departing to Auckland on September 23.

Caterpillar Global 6000 N797CT arrived in Perth from Denpasar, Broome and the Solomon mine on September 24 before continuing to Melbourne on September 26.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Global Express N51SE arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on September 14 before departing to Hamilton Island on September 18. It departed Hamilton Island for Cairns and Honolulu on September 23.

Global Express N9253V arrived in Cairns from Port Moresby and Gurney on September 23 and departed for Gurney and Port Moresby on September 30.

FAI Air Service Challenger 604 D-AFAC as flight IFA4915 arrived in Sydney from Halim on September 11 and after overnighting departed to Denpasar.

Arkasair Havacilik Challenger 604 TC-ARD as flight AO2867 transited Brisbane on September 6 while en route from Singapore to Auckland. It later transited Cairns on September 10 while en route to Singapore.

Reliance Worldwide Challenger 601-3A N23SB arrived at Essendon from Nadi on September 13. It later visited Brisbane and Hobart and was still in the country in late September.

Air Charter Challenger 601‑3A HB-IKS arrived in Sydney from Seletar and Port Hedland on October 1 before continuing to Wellington on October 5.

Jet Aviation Falcon 7X HB-JSM arrived in Sydney from Beijing on September 18 before continuing to Melbourne on September 20. It departed Melbourne for Don Muang on September 22.

Fosun Falcon 7X B-8206 transited Cairns in the early hours of October 1 while en route from Shanghai to Queenstown.

Skyservice Falcon 7X C-FBNS arrived in Sydney from Honolulu and Brisbane on October 2.

Abelag Aviation Falcon 7X OO-LMG as flight AAB11 arrived in Sydney from Auckland on September 12. It later visited Adelaide and Melbourne before departing Perth for Colombo on September 24.

ACM Air Charter Falcon 2000EX D-BIKA ‘Bavarian 777’ arrived in Perth from Singapore on September 15 before returning to Singapore on September 17.

Airmed International Hawker 800A N811AM arrived in Brisbane from Darwin on September 30 and after overnighting continued to Nadi.

Ferry flights

AT-802A N8520K msn 567, which was on delivery to Field Air at Ballarat, arrived at the Gold Coast on September 24 after completing its trans-Pacific ferry from Santa Maria, California via Honolulu, Majuro and Honiara. It was ferried from the US to Australia by SRD Aviation of Albury.

T-6C Texan IIs N2842B and N2845B arrived in Brisbane on October 6 from Denpasar, Darwin and Cairns during their delivery flights to the RNZAF. N2842B ‘Classic 143’ will become NZ1404 while N2845B ‘Classic 176’ will become NZ1405.

PNGDF Bell 212 P2-DFW was noted at Cairns on September 9.

Cessna 182Q P2-HFC, which departed Mount Hagen for Horn Island on September 6, was later seen at Laura/Queensland, Cairns, Burketown, Birdsville, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Broome.

Cessna 337G VH-ODL which carries ‘Samoa Air’ and ‘Central Pacific Special Air Services’ titles(Traffic/October), was registered to Islandair Enterprises of Coolangatta on August 19. It departed Archerfield on September 20 for Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island and Noumea/Magenta where it arrived on September 22.

Cirrus SR22 VH-CPE departed Jandakot on September 14 for Forrest, Leigh Creek and Archerfield before continuing to Lord Howe Island and Kerikeri where it arrived on September 20.

Cirrus SR22 N113NZ arrived in Auckland on September 5 after ferrying in from Hilo and Pago Pago. The Cirrus was placed on the New Zealand register as ZK-CNZ on September 8.

Cirrus SR22 N661RA arrived at the Gold Coast on September 12 from Hilo and Pago Pago.

Cirrus SR22 N538SR arrived at Darwin from Seletar on September 17 before continuing to Cairns and Tarawa where it arrived on September 20.

Diamond DA42-V1 Twin Star OE-UDK arrived at Bankstown on September 30 from Ujung Pandang, Darwin and Alice Springs, ahead of operating a demonstration tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Starlite Aviation Super Puma ZS-RTS was noted on September 5 transiting Gladstone, Proserpine and Townsville airports while en route to Cairns. After overnighting it departed for Coen reportedly destined for New Guinea.

Aero Sotravia BN-2 F-GDHD arrived at Noumea on October 2 after ferrying in from Denpasar, Darwin, Mount Isa and Brisbane.

BN-2 YJ-RN1 was delivered to Port Vila on September 17 after ferrying in from Juanda, Darwin and Cairns.

Quest Kodiak N995MF msn 100-0095 was delivered to MAF International at Sentani on September 13 after the aircraft crossed the Pacific from North Bend, Oregon via Honolulu and Majuro. It had earlier been displayed at EAA AirVenture 2014 at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Vulcanair P-68C N104LT arrived at the Gold Coast on September 19 after completing its trans-Pacific crossing from Yolo County, California via Hilo, Pago Pago and Norfolk Island. It then continued south to Canberra and Moorabbin where it arrived on September 21. The Vulcanair was registered VH-TZN to Investment Research of Mittagong on September 26.

Heavy metal

German air force A340-313 16+2 ‘GAF875’ arrived in Cairns from Hong Kong on September 19 and departed to Hanoi on September 21. Spanish Air Force A310-304 T. 22‑1 AME4544 arrived in Sydney from Apia and Canberra on September 3 and departed to Jakarta on September 5.

Evergrande A319-115(CJ) B-6435 arrived in Sydney from Denpasar on October 2 before operating a return flight to Brisbane on October 4.

K5-Aviation A319-115(CJ) D-ALXX ‘Kayak 52’ transited Cairns on September 4 while en route from Don Muang to Auckland. It again transited Cairns on September 12 while en route from Auckland to Narita.

Comlux Aviation A319‑115(CJ) 9H-MCE, which arrived in Melbourne on September 1 (Traffic/October), departed to Sydney on September 3. It departed Sydney for Macau on September 6.

Maximus Air An-124 UR‑ZYD ‘Cargo Max 3721’ arrived at RAAF Amberley from Medan on September 24 and departed for Darwin and Medan on September 27.

Volga Dnepr An-124 RA-82074 as flight VDA2324 arrived in Darwin from Chennai on October 1 and after overnighting continued to Noumea/La Tontouta.

Volga Dnepr An-124 RA‑82081 as flight VDA2296 arrived in Sydney from Athens and Johor Bahru on October 4. Onboard were Erickson Air-Crane S-64Es N189AC and N957AC, both of which are here for the 2014/15 bushfire season. After assembly the S-64E’s were ferried across to Bankstown. The An-124 departed Sydney on October 4 to Honolulu as VDA2297.

Aquis 757-23A VQ-BTF arrived in Brisbane from Macau and Cairns on September 17. VQ-BTF departed Brisbane for Cairns on September 29 and after overnighting continued to Macau. It was again noted at Brisbane on October 5.

US Air Force 737-7CP/C‑40C 02-0201 ‘Boxer 43’ arrived in Brisbane from Pago Pago on October 2 and departed to Darwin on October 5.

US Air Force 737-7DM/C‑40B 01-0041 callsign ‘SAM 990’ arrived in Cairns from Pago Pago on September 19 and departed to Honolulu on September 21.
