Australian Helicopters awarded new Vic air ambulance contract
The Victorian state government has awarded a new, 10-year contract for Ambulance Victoria helicopter services to Australian Helicopters.
The contract will see six new AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters acquired and operated on behalf of Ambulance Victoria from bases at Essendon, Warrnambool, the Latrobe Valley and Bendigo. Australian Helicopters has an existing contract in place for air ambulance services at Warrnambool and Essendon which it has operated since 2009 using Bell 412s, but these machines will be replaced by new AW139s.
