A380-842 VH-OQB ferried from Sydney to Manila on May 4 as QF6001 and on arrival entered the Lufthansa Technik hangar for planned maintenance.

QantasLink took delivery of 717-2BL N928ME in Adelaide on April 15 after the aircraft arrived from Cecil Field, Florida. The ferry, which was contracted to Southern Cross Aviation as SXA1130, operated via Billings, Anchorage, Magadan, Sapporo, Cebu and Darwin. The 717 was registered VH-YQW on April 17.

717-2BL VH-YQV, which was delivered to Adelaide on March 4 (Traffic/April), entered service on April 15 when it operated QF1522 from Canberra to Sydney.

Qantas Freight ferried 737‑376F VH-XMB as QF7302 from Seletar to Perth and Melbourne on April 7 after it completed a period of maintenance and repainting in the colours of Qantas Freight. VH‑XMB had arrived at the ST Aero hangar at Seletar on January 24.

BAe 146-300QT VH-NJF, which carried the titles of Australian air Express, was noted at Adelaide on April 8 now with Cobham titles. VH-NJF continues in service with Qantas Freight and it is expected that BAe 146-300QT VH-NJM and BAe 146-100QT VH-NJV will also change their titles from Australian air Express to Cobham.

Jetstar took delivery of its fourth 787-8, VH-VKE in Melbourne on April 25 after the aircraft ferried in direct from Paine Field, Washington as JQ7878.

787-8 VH-VKF should have been delivered to Jetstar by the time this is read.

A330-202 VH-EBB was withdrawn from Jetstar service on May 4 after operating JQ2/3 from Honolulu to Melbourne. Later that day the A330 was ferried to Brisbane as JQ7996 where it commenced preparation for entry into service with Qantas.

A330-202 VH-EBJ operated the inaugural JQ15 from Melbourne to Cairns and Kansai on March 30.

A330-202 VH-EBD operated the inaugural JQ23 from Melbourne to Narita on April 29.

A320-232 VH-XSJ was delivered to Jetstar in Melbourne on April 2 after the aircraft ferried in from Seletar as JQ7992. VH-XSJ, which was previously operated by Jetstar Asia as 9V-JST, entered service onApril 11 when it operated JQ972 from Melbourne to Perth. Jetstar Asia had withdrawn 9V-JST from service on March 17 after operating JSA556 from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore.

A320-232 VH-VQX as JQ7993 ferried from Melbourne to Darwin and Seletar on April 7 for planned maintenance.

Of the Jetstar Hong Kong A320- 232/S aircraft stored at Toulouse, A320-232/S F-WXAE msn 5971, the prospective B-KJJ, has been sold to Tianjin Airlines. It was registered B-1851 before departing on its delivery flight from Toulouse to Astana and Tianjin on April 30.

Airline news

In this issue we report the delivery of two Fokker 70s to Alliance and the departure of an Air New Zealand 737-300. Removed from airline operations was a 757-200 of Air Niugini which terminated its lease, a 737-300F of Airwork which was damaged in a landing accident and an RJ70 of Cobham which was scrapped.

Air New Zealand was planning to take delivery of 777-319ER ZK‑OKR in mid-June and on entry into service it will replace either 747- 419 ZK-NBV or 747-475 ZK‑SUH, which are the last 747s in the Air New Zealand fleet.

777-219ER ZK-OKC ferried from Auckland to Xiamen as NZ6011 on March 3 for planned maintenance and while there it was painted in the fern leaf/white fuselage colour scheme. ZK-OKC returned to Auckland from Xiamen as NZ6002 on April 6 before returning to service the same day as NZ175 from Auckland to Perth.

737-33R ZK-SJB, which was withdrawn from service in Christchurch on February 28 (Traffic/April), had its Air New Zealand titles and koru removed before being test flown on April 5 as NZ6606. On April 10 ZK-SJB, which was ferried by Southern Cross as SXI1409, departed Christchurch for Apia, Honolulu and Goodyear, Arizona. It was cancelled from the NZ register on April 14 and the same day was placed on the US register as N886CL to Cara Aircraft Leasing of Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Air Niugini terminated its lease on 757-23N TF-FIC on April 3 after the aircraft operated PX004 from Brisbane to Port Moresby. The following day the Icelandair-owned 757 departed Port Moresby for Guangzhou where it remained under maintenance until May 1 when it ferried to Sharjah and Keflavik (arriving May 3).

Air North ferried E170‑100LR VH-ANO into Darwin from Subang on April 11 after completing maintenance in Warsaw.

Airwork Flight Operations cancelled 737-3B7(SF) ZK-TLC from the register on April 8 as ‘destroyed’. ZK-TLC was damaged when its right main landing gear collapsed on landing at Honiara on January 26 while operating a flight for Pacific Air Express (Traffic/March).

Alliance Airlines took delivery of Fokker 70 OE-LFL msn 11573 from Austrian Airlines at Adelaide on April 7 after the aircraft ferried in from Vienna via Sanliurfa/ Turkey, Doha, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Bangkok/Don Muang, Singapore, Denpasar, Darwin and Alice Springs as flight AUA1487. The Fokker 70 was registered VH‑NKZ to Alliance on April 22 even though it and two other Fokker 70s purchased from Austrian will only be used as a source of spares to support the Alliance fleet.

Fokker 70 OE-LFG msn 11549 was delivered to Alliance in Brisbane on May 4 after ferrying in from Vienna via Denpasar, Darwin and Mount Isa as flight AUA1487. It was later registered to Alliance as VH-NKH. Fokker 70 OE-LFK msn 11555 was planned for delivery to Alliance in Adelaide in early June.

Cobham had completed the scrapping of BAe 146-100/RJ70 VH-NJT at Adelaide by March 31.

BAe 146-100 VH-NJX took the place of VH-NJT in the scrapping hangar at Adelaide on March 31.

Fiji Airways grounded A330‑243 DQ-FJV in Nadi on March 18 as a result of a heavy landing earlier in the day at Sydney. After work was carried out in Nadi DQ-FJV was ferried to Hong Kong on April 12 as FJI2005 for further maintenance.

It then returned to Nadi from Hong Kong as FJI2006 on April 23.

Our Airline placed 737-3H6(F) VH-VLI on the register on April 9.

The all-white 737F, then registered F-GIXR, had earlier ferried from Belgrade to Subang via Al Ain and Hyderabad between March 31 and April 1.

Virgin Group news

Virgin Australia Airlines registered 737-8FEs VH-YIW msn 40700 and VH-YIZ msn 40702 on May 2.

737-8FE VH-VUU returned to service on April 11 as VOZ362 Townsville-Brisbane after being painted in Virgin Australia colours by Flying Colours in Townsville.

While in Townsville VH-VUU was named Kingscliff Beach.

737-8FE VH-VOS operated VOZ383 from Brisbane to Townsville on April 10 and on arrival entered the Flying Colours hangar for repainting in Virgin Australia colours. VH-VOS now named Chiton Rocks returned to service on April 23 when it operated VOZ362 from Townsville to Brisbane.

737-8FE VH-VUM operated VOZ381 from Brisbane to Townsville on April 24 and on arrival entered the Flying Colours hangar for painting in Virgin Australia colours. VH-VUM ferried from Townsville to Brisbane as VOZ9938 on May 4 and returned to service the following day as VOZ334 from Brisbane to Melbourne.

737-8FE ZK-PBD was repainted from its Pacific Blue to Virgin Australia colours in Christchurch between February 9 and February 23 and was named Brighton Beach.

737-8FE ZK-PBG was repainted from its Pacific Blue to Virgin Australia colours in Christchurch between February 23 and March 10 and was named Bewitching Broome.

E190-100IGW VH-ZPH arrived in Brisbane from Gan, Cocos and Port Hedland on April 30 operating as VOZ9902 after completion of planned maintenance at Alverca, Portugal. While in Portugal VH-ZPH was painted in Virgin Australia colours and named Honeymoon Cove.

E190-100IGW VH-ZPI as flight VOZ9901 departed Brisbane on May 1 for Darwin, Subang and en route stops to Alverca for planned maintenance.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines took delivery of ATR 72-600 VH-VPI in Perth on September 17 ’13 and then ferried the aircraft to Townsville on November 6 ’13 where it was placed in storage. On April 29 VH‑VPI as flight VOZ2950 was ferried from Townsville to Brisbane.

ATR 72-600 VH-FVR has been grounded in Albury since February 25 reportedly as a result of a birdstrike.

Tigerair took delivery of A320‑232 VH-XUG in Melbourne on March 23 (Traffic/May) and placed the aircraft in service on April 4 when it operated TGW708from Melbourne to Maroochydore.

A320-232 VH-VNP ferried from Brisbane to Clark Field as TGW9024 on May 4 where it was repainted in the colours of Tigerair.

Regional news

In this issue we report the delivery of a BN-2T to Air Tetiaroa while departing were two Jetstream 41s previously operated by Brindabella Airlines, an EMB-120ER of Pel‑Air Express and a float-equipped DHC-6-300 of Unknown Destination Services.

Air Caledonie ATR 42‑500 F-OIPI, after completing a maintenance layup, departed Seletar on April 10 for Darwin, Brisbane and Noumea where it arrived on April 12.

Air Tetiaroa took delivery of BN-2T F-OKAB in Papeete with the aircraft ferrying from Denpasar to Darwin, Townsville and Noumea between April 28-30.

Brindabella Airlines ferried Jetstream 41 VH-XNE out of Canberra on April 8 with the aircraft destined for Humberside, UK. Ferry routing was via Alice Springs, Port Hedland, Christmas Island, Medan, Colombo, Mumbai, Muscat, Aquaba and Dubrovnik.

Jetstream 41 VH-XNF departed Canberra on April 23 on ferry to Humberside where it arrived on April 28. Initial ferry routing was via Port Macquarie, Mount Isa, Darwin and Surabaya. As at the beginning of May Jetstream 41s VH-TAH and VH‑TAI were still resident at Canberra.

Jetfast Aviation became the registered operator of the former Brindabella Airlines Metro III VH-TAG and Metro IIIs VH‑TAO and VH-SEF on March 26. Metro IIIs VH‑OZV and VH‑TAM, which were also operated by Brindabella, were registered to a private owner in the ACT on March 26. As of early May Metro IIIs VH‑OZV, VH-TAG, VH-TAM and VH-SEF were parked at Goulburn while VH‑TAO was at Sydney.

Pel-Air sold EMB-120ER VH‑EEB in the US (Traffic/May) and now registered N510KT it departed Wagga Wagga on April 18 for Brisbane, Apia and Hilo.

Pelican Airlines became the registered operator of Jetstream 32EPs VH-OTD, VH-OTE and VH-OTF on April 28. All three aircraft were previously operated by Brindabella Airlines (and before that Aeropelican).

Unknown Destination Services has reportedly sold DHC‑6‑300/ FP VH-AQU in Croatia and on April 25 the Twin Otter departed Bankstown on ferry to Switzerland via Coober Pedy, Port Hedland, Karratha, Cocos and Gan.

Bizjet news

In this issue we report the delivery of a Global Express and note the impending delivery of a Learjet 35A and a Cessna Mustang. Departing were a Global Express and a Challenger 850.

Global 6000 N548GX msn 9548 was delivered to Westfield Aviation in Sydney on April 9 and on April 30 the registration was changed to N36LG.

Westfield Aviation previously operated Global Express N36LG, but its registration was changed to N36EG in February ’14. It departed Sydney for Honolulu on March 30.

Consolidated Press Global Express N889CP changed its registration to N888ZP in early May.

Learjet 35A VH-YPT 35A-366 was registered on April 2 with the holder Chiron Flight Services of Seletar, Singapore and the operator Pacific Flight Services of Condell Park, NSW.

Cessna 510 Mustang VH‑MHO 510-0363 was registered on April 2 with the holder Tadmar Investmentsof Maddington, WA and the operator Flight Options (Australia) of Mudjimba, Queensland.

Challenger 850 VH-VMX, which was registered to Fallbrook of Welshpool, WA was cancelled from the register on May 1 as ‘exported to the USA’. It departed Perth for Cairns on April 25 and after overnighting continued to Majuro. The Challenger was registered N678RS to Cyberjet of Duluth, Georgia on May 1.

Falcon 7X VH-MQK, which was operated by MKAir7X of Newcastle, was cancelled from the register on March 17 (Traffic/May). The Falcon was then placed on the Isle of Man register on March 18 as M-GMKM, but the owner remained as MKAir7X of Newcastle, NSW. On April 19 M-GMKM arrived in Adelaide from Male to again take up residence in Australia.

Learjet 60 VH-NPP, which was registered to Chiron Flight Services of Seletar on March 14 (Traffic/May), was first noted in Singapore on April 2.

Falcon 900EX N146EX, which is operated by Business Jets of Auckland, returned to its home base from Honolulu on April 4 after a period of maintenance in the US. While in the US the Falcon was fitted with winglets.

Challenger 605 VH-LVH changed its registered operator on April 29 to ExecuJet Australia of Mascot, NSW.

Falcon 50 VH-FOL changed its registered operator on April 9 to Falcon Operations Australasia of Upper Coomera, Queensland.

Learjet 45 VH-SQD and Learjet 45 VH-SQM changed their registered holder and operator on December 27 to EJ Capital Zurich AG of Zurich, Switzerland and ExecuJet Australia of Mascot.

Citation CJ1 VH-TFW changed its registered operator on March 10 to Light Jets Australia of Toowoomba, Queensland.

Learjet 35A B-4186 arrived in Sydney on November 11 ’13 for maintenance with ExecuJet. On April 11 it was flown to Wagga Wagga for painting before returning to Sydney on May 3. B-4186 departed Sydney for Longreach and Darwin on May 8.

Propjet news in this period involved the following aircraft.

King Air 350 VH-NSI msn FL‑415 was registered on April 17 to the Sundown Pastoral Company of Bonogin, Queensland. The King Air is no stranger to Australia as it has been operating in the country as N36715 since July ’05.

King Air 300 N888YY msn FA-46 of Columbia Asset Trust Corporation of Wichita was delivered to Toowoomba on April 23. N888YY departed Stuart/Florida for Teterboro on April 16 before crossing the North Atlantic via Goose Bay and Reykjavik to Exeter, UK. Inbound to Toowoomba N888YY’s routing was via Medan, Pontianak, Denpasar, Darwin and Mount Isa.

King Air C90A ZK-SNM registered to Hawk Enterprises of Feilding, New Zealand has been sold in South Africa and between April 25 and April 28 it ferried from Auckland to Denpasar via Sydney and Darwin.

Gulfstreams galore

Gulfstream 650 N650PH arrived in Melbourne from Haneda on April 15 and after overnighting returned to Haneda. Jetaway Air Service Gulfstream 550 N17ND arrived in Brisbane from Cebu on April 1.

It continued to Sydney on April 2 and Essendon on April 3 before departing to Honolulu on April 6.

Warner Communications Gulfstream 550 N79RP arrived in Sydney from Wellington on April 11 and after overnighting departed to Honolulu.

Gulfstream 550 N550AU arrived at the Gold Coast from Macau on April 25 before continuing to Perth on April 27. It departed Perth for Macau on April 29.

American Express Gulfstream 550 N552X arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on April 7 and departed to Haneda on April 10.

TAI Leasing Gulfstream 550 N801TM arrived at Essendon from Auckland on April 30.

TDC Management Gulfstream 550 N811GA arrived at Canberra from Honolulu on April 29 and the following day operated a return flight to Temora.

Gulfstream 550 N888HK arrived at Melbourne from Hong Kong on April 29 before returning there on May 3.

Gulfstream 550 N888VS arrived in Brisbane from Subang on April 23 and after overnighting departed to Halim.

Blackrock Financial Management Gulfstream 550 N3788B as JAS71 arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on March 30. It continued to Essendon on April 1 and after overnighting departed to Haneda.

Jet Aviation Gulfstream 550 B-HVP in company with Metrojet Gulfstream 550 B-KCK arrived in Melbourne from Tianjin on April 13 before departing in the early hours of April 16 for Guangzhou.

Star Jet Gulfstream 550 B-8270 arrived at the Gold Coast from Hong Kong on April 12 before continuing to Sydney on April 16. It departed Sydney for Hong Kong on April 19.

Deer Jet Gulfstream 550 B-8275 as DER502 arrived in Melbourne from Shenzhen on April 26 before returning to Shenzhen as DER503 on April 30.

North Pacific Enterprises Gulfstream V N83CW arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on April 1 before operating a return flight to Essendon on April 3. It departed Sydney for Honolulu on April 4.

Gulfstream V N702TY arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on April 1 before returning to Honolulu on April 4.

MJets Gulfstream V HS‑WEH arrived in Gladstone from Don Muang and Darwin on April 1 before continuing to Brisbane on April 4. It departed to Perth on April 6 and after overnighting continued to Denpasar.

IT Aviation Gulfstream 450 N7GF arrived in Sydney from Subang on April 4 before continuing to Cairns on April 14. It departed Cairns for Majuro on April 17.

Swiss Jet Gulfstream 450 HBJUS arrived in Sydney from Singapore on April 9 and remained there until April 15 when it departed to Darwin and Hong Kong.

Royal Jordanian Gulfstream 450 VQ-BCE arrived in Sydney fromHong Kong and Darwin on April 4 and departed to Biak on April 7.

Integrity Aircraft Title Holdings Gulfstream IV N168RT arrived in Perth from Subang on April 2 before returning there on April 6.

Sultan of Johor Gulfstream IV 9M-ISJ arrived in Perth from Johor Bahru on April 5 before returning to Johor Bahru on April 10.

US Marines Gulfstream IV/C‑20G 165153 callsign ‘Ghost 53’ arrived in Darwin from Singapore on April 21 and after overnighting continued to Cairns. It departed Cairns for Pago Pago on April 24.

Norlease Global Express N15SD arrived in Sydney from Honolulu on April 13 before continuing to Melbourne on April 15. It departed Melbourne for Honolulu on April 21.

Jet Asia Global Express N889JA arrived at the Gold Coast from Honolulu on April 18 and departed to MFM on April 20.

TAG Aviation Asia Global Express B-LIM flight TBJ06 arrived in Melbourne from Hong Kong on April 3. It operated a return flight to Albury on April 4 before returning to Hong Kong on April 6.

Global Express PP-VDR arrived in Brisbane from Easter Island on April 2 and after overnighting departed to Melbourne and Noumea.

Arab Wings Global 5000 VP‑CKM arrived in Melbourne from Manila on April 2 and departed to Singapore on April 6.

Global 5000 VP-CWQ arrived in Melbourne from Shenzhen on April 26 before departing to Hong Kong on April 29.

China United CRJ700 B-4064 arrived at Essendon for planned maintenance on April 5 from Kota Kinabalu, Darwin and Cairns.

Metrojet Challenger 605 B-LOL arrived in Brisbane from Cebu on April 4 before returning to Cebu on April 6.

Kalitta Learjet 36 N905CK as Kalitta 84 arrived in Melbourne from Honiara and Brisbane on April 26. It departed Melbourne for Brisbane and Honiara as Kalitta 55 on May 3.

Cessna 680 Sovereign N338TM arrived in Sydney from Subang and Darwin on April 2 before continuing to Melbourne on April 7. It departed Melbourne for Darwin and Subang on April 11.

Auctionair Cessna 560 N360HS arrived in Cairns from Port Vila on April 30 before operating a return flight to Sydney on May 3. It departed Cairns for Port Moresby, Guam and Narita on May 6.

Wallenmount Falcon 7X HB‑JFN arrived in Sydney from Subang on April 6. It was noted at Scone on April 8 before departing Sydney for Subang on April 11.

Air Alsie Falcon 7X OY-TSS as flight MMD3198 arrived in Perth from Subang on April 20 before returning to Subang on April 25.

Air Alsie Falcon 900LX OY‑MHM as MMD1607 arrived in Perth from Subang on April 2 before returning to Subang on April 3.

EHC Holdings Falcon 900 N311JA arrived in Perth from Nadi on April 1. On April 6 it operated a return flight to Busselton before departing Perth the same day for Denpasar.

Falcon 2000EX N606TJ arrived in Sydney from Apia on April 28 and departed to Ayers Rock on May 1. After overnighting it continued to Broome and Denpasar.

Ferry flights

AT-802A VH-FFB in company with AT-802A VH-FFM departed Brisbane for Norfolk Island on April 13 before continuing the following day to Pago Pago and onward stops to Abbotsford, British Columbia. As in previous years the two ConairAT-802As had spent the 2013/2014 bushfire season with Field Air at Ballarat.

Cessna A185E VH-BVS, which reportedly has been sold in New Zealand, departed Port Macquarie for Lord Howe Island on April 26 and after overnighting continued to Auckland.

Cirrus SR22 N802DK ferried from Bankstown to Ardmore via Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island and Kerikeri between April 5 and April 7. It remained in New Zealand until April 23 when it departed Kerikeri for Norfolk Island and the Gold Coast.

Eagle 150 ZK-PNM, which was registered to an Adelaide-based company on April 3, arrived at Archerfield on May 3 after crossing the Tasman from Kerikeri via Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island and the Gold Coast.

RFDS/Central PC-12/47E VH-FVB in company with Pilatus Australia PC-12/47E VH-WBI departed Adelaide for Sydney on April 13 and after overnighting crossed the Tasman direct to Wellington. On April 16 VH-FVB returned to Australia when it departed Wellington for Queenstown, Hobart and Adelaide while VH-WBI departed Auckland for Lord Howe Island and Adelaide on April 25.

Ravin 500 ZU-XML, which is on a round-the-world flight, departed Kerikeri for Lord Howe Island on May 6.

Heavy metal

Government of Malaysia A319-115/ACJ 9M-NAA callsign ‘November Romeo 1’ arrived in Perth from Subang on April 2 and departed for Hanoi on April 3.

Delta Air Lines 747-451 N665US as flight DAL8958 arrived in Darwin from Honolulu on April 4 and later the same day departed to Kadena as DAL8820. It again repeated the sequence on April 6 as DAL8958/8820.

Emirates SkyCargo 747-4HAER(F) OO-THD as flight EK9820 arrived in Sydney from Singapore on April 21 and after overnighting continued to Perth. As flight UAE4850 it departed Perth for Dubai/Al Maktoum on April 23.

Travel Service Airlines 737‑8FN OK-TVL operating as flight TVS4652 arrived in Cairns from Auckland on April 14 and departed to Hong Kong as TVS4653 on April 16.

Orient Global (Singapore) 737‑74T/BBJ VP-BEL arrived at the Gold Coast from Honolulu on April 15 and departed to Phuket on April 16. It returned to the Gold Coast from Phuket on April 26 and the same day continued to Sydney. The BBJ departed Sydney for Singapore on April 28.

US Navy 737-7AFC/C-40A 165834 as flight CNV7275 arrived in Perth from Kadena and Darwin on April 4 and after overnighting departed for Darwin and Kadena.

The C-40A again visited Australia on May 3 when it arrived at RAAF Pearce from Darwin as CNV7782.

Royal Air Force C-17 ZZ174 arrived in Christchurch from RAAF Amberley on April 2 and after overnighting departed for Sydney and Woomera as Ascot 6665. It arrived in Perth from Woomera on April 4 and departed to Diego Garcia on April 5.

USAF/AFRC Lockheed C-5B 70-0451 callsign ‘Reach 281’ arrived in Townsville from Guam on April 20 and after overnighting returned to Guam.

C-130H A-1331 ex A97-009 arrived at Townsville on April 30. It entered the Flying Colours hangar where it was painted in the colours of the Indonesian air force.

MH370 search update

The unsuccessful air search for the missing Malaysia Airlines 777‑2H6ER 9M-MRO wound up at the end of April. The following lists changes to the search fleet since our listing in Traffic/May.

US Navy P-8A Poseidon 168439/LF callsign ‘AU102’ arrived in Perth from Kadena on April 6.

US Navy P-8A Poseidon 168438/LF callsign ‘AU103’ arrived in Perth from Kadena on April 10.

US Navy P-8A Poseidon 168429/LF callsign ‘MY102’ departed Perth on April 10 for Subang as did US Navy P-8A Poseidon 168430/LF callsign ‘Talon 101’.

US Navy P-8A Poseidon 168433/LF callsign ‘AU105’ arrived in Perth from Kadena on April 26 and departed to Darwin on May 1.
